Adword Analyzer Quotes vs Non-Quotes

I have a quick question. I found a decent niche(a la Bum Marketing) of a keyword search that within quotes has over 5,000 searches, yet only 33 return articles.

For instance something like "How To Yodel". So, it wouldn't be that hard for that search to get to the top of the list with my website. However, if you do a google search without the quotes, I come up with a few hundred thousand returns. Much harder obviously to get to the top of the google rankings.

So as I understand it if someone actually used those quotes to do the search, then I could be at the top of the list, however, without years of hard work without the quotes I'd be somewhere in the top 100,000 or so.

Is that the way it works?

    Thanks for any help.

    yes, thats how it works

Get directory submission with your text link (how to yodel).

The first website coming up for that search on Google is http://www.yodelcourse.com/ . It has 2300 backlinks which about a hundred of are using that text link.

So if you get your website listed in over 100 or 150 listed (you probably have to submit to about 300 or more to get that many listed soon), your website will come first...

    cheers,

Just because a phrase brings back 500,000,000 results doesn't mean that all of them are direct competition.

Its possible that only twenty website are really competing for your phrase, quotes or not.

Use this tool to crack the code for the top ten websites.

This article recently changed the way I thought about getting backlinks...

Getting 2000+ links in the next month will trigger Google to put you in the sandbox. Add links carefully and you'll beat the number one spot with only a handful of quality links.

Well, that's part of the issue that I have. If I'm the only one competing for that particular phrase in it's entirety. Would that mean I would pop up to the top of the list.

I'm not truly doing "How To Yodel", but something similar. If I was the only website that had keywords of exactly How To Yodel, and everyone else just had the word Yodel in their keyword list. When someone did a google search of How To Yodel without quotes, because I have specifically scripted my site to pertain exactly to that phrase, would my site then come up first, before the other sites that happened to have the word Yodel on their site?

I'm not sure I exactly understand how Google would treat this.

Thanks for all the help so far,

    Marc
