Advise - what am I missing?

    Hey,

    So, I'm on-going and trying to develop a cool link directory and just get some traffic to it. Just some personal opinions, what am I missing? Am I missing some categories, do I have too many? Is the look bad, should I change it?
    Where should I advertise?

    Just some things like that. I'm working hard to increase the PR so that I can offer a little bit more.

    Just a little update...

    I've got some backlinks from some high PR site, so hopefully we will see a PR increase soon. I've added extra options for author's and by signing up to an account, you can get a free do-follow backlink on your profile without publishing an article. Still no idea about the categories.

    Also, what do you think about allowing links in profiles but I allow users to change the title tags and supply anchor text?

    It's quite a nice simple theme.

    The biggest offputter is probably the fact that 98% of your categories have (0) content.

    Yeah I know, that's why I'm trying to work hard to get new content in there and get people registering. But there isn't really much you can offer with a free article directory, thus why I'm trying to increase the PR massively and offer free, do-follow backlinks

    So, I think you are trying to do something good so I will just say a few things:

    Issue: Your theme is on about 20 other article websites I have seen for sale here -
    Action: Change up the theme to make it different from the others. Feature Author something

    Issue: Lack of Content -
    Action: Contact people who provide contextual link services and offer your website as a place to submit articles.

    Issue: Good PR backlinks with No Content -- Be Careful Google may see that is a Red Flag

    Issue: Article Directory sites are very Common - What makes yours different?


    I think you need to look at the Article Directory market and consider what has happened with panda update and then see how you can provide a USP Unique selling proposition.. What makes you different? Will you add Templates to your website? Will you add picture galleries?

    Why Choose your directory over another?

    Your website layout is okay.. But I think you need to check on the header.. The whole header banner can't be seen because of the ads. I think you can change it. The categories are also okay.. Nice site.

    Looks OK to me. You just need to be patient and stick with what you're doing.
