Not to rain on your parade but I would say $10.

    Ill explain.

My first site I ever made was a free online auction site. I learned through many of hours of work and too much money that it is stupid to compete with eBay. Making an auction site is like making a search engine.

But I guess you could sell it to people that dont know any better and want to try to make an auction site. The only way to make any money with an auction site is through a niche. But the domain name isnt nichey.

Domain again by itself is not valuable in my opinion. It is what your idea for it is. SimplyAuction.com would find value for maybe a software developer looking to publish maybe a software script?

Value from a domain real estate point of view $0-regFee
Value from a developer point of view - $mid xx - mid #1xx

Realistically speaking, it would be very foolish to compete with EBay although there are other online auction sites that are taking a little market share from EBay. The biggest problem I found with my website was attracting sufficient numbers of potential buyers to keep sellers interested enough on a long-term basis. In order to do that requires big advertising budgets. As for niche marketing, equipmentauction.com sold for 14,000 US$ recently on moniker which are fairly simple generic terms.
