Advise on how to market my sites

    Hello everyone,
My wife and I have two book related websites, AllTheseBooks.com and BookHuntersBlog.com. We promote new authors and connect them with readers through book reviews and author interviews by actively going where readers are. We also have a MySpace, so it's really a triangle of exposure for them.
We post in other forums, comment on blogs, ask for referrals; I'm going to write some articles and I have an idea for a "virtual hunt" where the lucky winner gets a yet-tbd price. I'm also trying to get linked on other blogs and websites. What else could we do?
BTW, my Amazon store sucks and I'm going to completely revamp it next week.

    Thanks for any help.

Your sites looks new for me. Give them some time and build your link slowly, add unique content regulary and you'll see great traffic from SE.

Add your posts to Digg and other social media services.

Yes, they are new. The forum is in its current form only a month old, the blog less than that. I know I'm inpatient.:(
Do you think book reviews and author interviews will do well on Digg etc.?

If you are impatient then you can try buying some advertisement on PPC sites.

No, the other one was on feedback, now I want tips on how to market it. The other thread hasn't been active for almost two weeks.

    you didn't check my thread??

if you donate something for the contest then you will surely earn lots of publicity

someone just mailed me that she will give away TWO yet to be released problogger books..isn't that attractive..

similarly a well known blogger Liz said she will give away a 45 min blog help consultation..

    think about it..

if your give away few books you could get what new bloggers look for...

Yeah, we've got a bunch of books (some of them signed) that we'll give away. Tried it before and the response wasn't too great, but we'll try it again.

I don't think so. Unless you publish a controversial review of a book about a topic that is popular with the Digg crowd (like Apple, or Digg itself). Still, success wouldn't be guaranteed.

If you find a social media site whose audience is interested in books, then go for it. Alternatively, you might try those social media sites where (almost) all types of site are well-received. BloggingZoom.com is said to be one of those friendlier places, but since I'm not an user, I can't tell whether it's true or not. Besides, their audience seems to be more interested in Internet marketing than in Literature. Anyway, you could open an account over there and start interacting with other members to see if you get any results.

Thanks, that's what I thought. Unfortunately books are not doing so well with the youth/teens/typical social media user, so I need to find alternatives. That's why I've been seeking the direct contact.
