    Hi all,

I joined amazon.com affiliate program recently, and planning to advertise it using PPC marketing on google, yahoo...
Since amazon is such a well-knowm name, i guess an internet buyer will go directly to its site instead of searching it by keywords. Before i dump my money into any search engines, could somebody kindly give advices?

    Tx ahead.

Well, the only advice I can give you is that unless you choose your keywords really, really, REALLY carefull, you wil LOSE money..
You wil have to link to expensive programs to have any hope of making some money, but honestly I dont think you can do it with amazon. (there are better affiiliate programs out there)
In terms of PPC marketing, Google and overture are by far the best. Other networks may be cheaper per click, but lower quality clicks.

You can browse the programs at commision junction to see which are performing best.
I get many ads for mp3 downloading affiliate programs (eg mp3advance.com) on one of my sites, so I guess they must make *some* money to keep the ads up.
But if you only plan to do ppc campaigns without a website, I think you wil find it really difficult to make any real money.

    Thanks, Dejavu.

I do have a website and have some affiliate programs listed on it. Not making much sales...try to find other ways to make real money...Maybe PPC is not a good way, either.

The secret is in the keywords.

More people search for book names directly on google and froogle than going to amazon, which is why amazon, with foresight of losing hold on internetr traffic, is offering affiliate programs.

I would suggest general keywords like "books for sale", "buy books", "rare books", "used books"etc. be kept only for site targeting and content targeting, which specific book names (this is some amount of work for you, since you have to keep abreast of all the books that are being released on a daily basis - avialble usually in the daily newspaper in the "engagement/literary" section and also with daily research in google. That's the best you can hope to do.

PPC works! It works great! There's no doubt about it. But like every sports car, the nut at the wheel (pardon the usage) needs to know how to handle the baby...

Amazon is soooo much more than books, pick any product and if it sells, you can get from Amazon.
