Someone has a domain name that I want, this person does not respond to any contact and when I have researched them on the web there are loads of cases of them having domain names handed over to the appropriate owners and this person has never contested it(or even responded to the icann requests).

Thing is I do own a uk company of the same name but I am not sure if this is enough to get icann to act as the domain is a dot.com anyone got any experience or advice on what I should do, if anything?

    many thanks

Do you have trademark for the name? Is the current registrant acting in bad faith (ie redirecting traffic to a competitor of your company)? If the answer is yes to both questions, then I suggest you file a case with the World Intellectual Property Organization. You should be able to find useful information on the WIPO website.

The domain name is the guy's property. And he has got the right to ignore.
Unless you hold a trademark to protect the name, and he is using the domain to harm your business by taking advantage of owning your_company_name.com, I don't see much you can do about it I'm afraid. He was there first to buy..

Agree with Clive, the guy has the right to ignore you unless you have a few thousands of million dollars to offer.

Almost anyone can ignore big sums of money :O

Thanks all, pretty much what I thought but always worth asking in case someone has that little gem of knowledge.
