Hi, recently some very serious ALLEGATIONS have been made against me and my forum. We have been accused of copying another forum in the same niche and he has repeatadly posted the same allegation in a varity of forums across the internet, which to me is slanderous and is preventing some people from using our forums and is grounds for filing a lawsuit against the owner of this website. We didnt copy his forum nor did we need to in terms of content and look, he has only based his accusation on the fact we are in the same genre as him and are using the same forum software XenForo. I actually caught this particular person stealing actual content from my forum and posting it on his own prior to him making his accusation and its something he openly admits to. I was willing to let that slide being the mature adult that i am but then his accusations started to appear all over the internet, then he changed his website title to the same as ours (now changed again) and he is doing everything in his power to degrade the reputation of me and my forum, im not sure why he is doing this but he is and it really is peeving me off. Any advice?
The thing is that the comments and threads he has been posting are steering potential users away from our forum and i dont think he is going to stop any time soon, i dont want to just leave it because its not just my forum he is trying to ruin, he has already ruined 1 forum of a freind of mine and he is trying to do the same to me. I have put my life and soul into making my forum and gaining members for it to be ruined by a jealous and immature rival.
Your pretty much fucked, if your forum isn't generating enough dosh to go see a lawyer then theres nothing you can do white hat, black hat how-ever you can pay someone with a botnet and DDoS it for a while, contact him and order to remove the slander. Just an idea.
I already have my own lawyer, in the uk we can get legal aid for things like this and have to pay nothing if we come out on top. Im going to write to his hosting provider now to order him to remove the slanderous comments from his forum.
UK too? Cool, yea legal aid is ok if you can prove you don't have any cash, really couldn't picture myself going into my laywers office and telling him there posting shit about me lol
You're going to have to give some examples of what he's said. It's kind of difficult to see how just making insults against you could cause people with their own minds to not visit...
If it is written then it is libel rather than slander (slander is spoken). Either way however, it does not qualify for legal aid in the uK (see http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Governm...dvice/Gettinglegaladviceandlegalaid/DG_195314 ) and so you would have to self fund and defamation cases are always expensive. PS if you are in the UK you will not have a lawyer but will have a solicitor, enough with the americanisms

he actually pm'd me and said sorry after most of the people on theese other forums took my side and his forum was dead all day lol
