well i started a psp forums at the end of last month

nearly 900 members and im just implementing some things that will make users have to post if they wish to download the free movies etc

i have not advertised the forum other than being a part of a topsite

the reason i havent advertised is because im going on holiday for 3 weeks on wednesday and didnt want to much trouble for my 2 mods and was ganna start a advertising campaign next february

as im back 10/11th january this gives me time to clear the forums up from problems mods havent dealt with

However worldgaming Inc have offered to buy me out for $2500 and i come work for them at there new site for a set salary - this to me sounded to good to be true but we will see if a cheque arrives when im back from my holidays 3 weeks is plenty of time

now if no cheque has arrived which i doubt it will im thinking of selling 50% of the website as i have exams comming up and dont have as much time as i will need if the site kicks off in february - plus ineed the injection of cash

However i have been told that selling 50% of a website is a bad idea and i would just like your ideas and thoughts about selling half a site
cause i thought its no different to someone selling shares in a company but am i wrong ?

In general business terms, you would not usually sell 50% as that would mean you lose control of the business. I would sell a 49% share, that way you always have the controlling interest.

Do you need the money? If you don't need the cash, then hold on to the site yourself! Your site obviously has potential if someone is offering a buy out.

I would stay with the site, run your own campaign, and get it to a level that your happy with then accept offers if you want to sell it.

    What site is it?

Unless you have a potential partner that can bring skills that you don't have then I would say that selling half the business is a bad idea. The potential for conflicts is too great for the relative low amount of cash. I think you should decide to sell it all or keep it.

you also lose 49% of the revenue
    and
    a good site makes far more than 2500 $/ m revenue (100%)

with 100% of the revenue of ONE full site you can easily live - with half not at all - then you would need another site and more work ??

half a site still makes full work usually
hence you opt for half income at full workload

i would suggest what i do myself
one man = one site = ONE set of FULL efforts = smiling eyes / happy heart because FULL revenue !!

it is MUCH easier to own one full site and to any number of overtime if you KNOW that ALL flows into your account.

My advice, DON"T SELL IT unless other party is adding value to the partnership.

Don't sell it, If it so so successful I would hold of longer and gain more profits than from what you gained by selling it
