Looking to buy a new printer.

It should be quick with a good print quality. I print hundreds of pages in one day so i do not need to be waiting for pages to print. It only needs to be black toner. Replacement toners should be sensibly priced.

    What would you recommend?

I am NOT recommending EPSON- it has a good quality, but you will overpay for ink. Especially when you have to print more than 100 a day.

100s of pages everyday? Stay away from the inkjets, they will cost you a fortune in ink. We use a lot of HP laserjets here at the office and are happy with them. The main networked printer is a small HP 1200 and it does ok. If you are printing a few hundred pages, I would start at the 1200 series and go up from there. Maybe something more in the HP 1500 series if your printing 200+ pages a day.

For just printing black and white, stay with a laserjet. the cost per page is going to be a lot less then an ink jet.

HP usually has the best business printers. Their toner is not that expensive.

Based in UK. We currently use HP but have found that the toners are getting very expensive. Using 2430 machine at present. We need a fast printer, reliablility, simple black print, no colour and sensible toner prices.

    Any other recommendations beside HP?

Get a black and white laser printer. A Lexmark printer would do the job for you.

...or one of the Xerox thermal wax printers. We use them also. The wax blocks are kind of on the pricey side but they last for freakn ever!

I can certainly recommend HP or Dell for inexpensive color laser printers. An inkjet for what you're doing would be wallet suicide. To further keep costs down, check out local toner/cartridge refill places. Much cheaper in the long run as you can use refilled toner cartridges over again. And even their prices for "new" cartridges is reasonable.

We find that refills on our HP toner are always crap. We therefore buy new and toners that cost about $200 in the UK.

If only there was a comparetheprinter dot com website

cost of printer - cost of toner - running cost for year doing x pages - running cost for year doing xx pages

I gues I will have to do some research.
