As my other post says, I am currently the CEO of a site that is still under construction. After speaking with a few friends who are into SEO, they suggested that I ignore SEO completely since not many people will be searching for it. Anyway, advice about how to advertise via social networks (I already have a twitter and facebook. But I don't really know how to use the twitter to generate traffic). And also advice on whether to go with Adsense or xtendmedia (we already have an account with both) Adsense already turned down our site once because it wasn't active at the time of originally signing up. But now that the coding is done, we don't know the chances of it being approved, or how to improve those chances. Any advice would be greatly appreciated -CC
Basic SEO doesn't need to be complicated so ignoring it completely doesn't sound like create advice. You may not want to go out of your way to go after search traffic but you should at least do the basics. Twitter can be a great traffic source. People are willing to follow links and it is full of keywords that are easily searched and/or tracked.
I've never applied to Adsense before adding a new site so if you already have an account you are good to go. On-page SEO should be done just because it takes as much effort to do it right as to do it badly. Off page SEO can be ignored if you have other ways of driving people to your site - brochures, advertising, brand recognition
If your site is online, and it goes along with adsense tos, you will get approved, to get more visitors you need both off and on page SEO..
If you like to rank well in search engine onpage & offpage seo work is must. Follow your niche targeted people at twitter, when you have about 1000 follower tweet your site 2 to 3 times a day with other tweet.
Have a look at this article - How to increase website traffic?. Ignoring SEO is a very bad move. Even if there are limited number for searches, you can attract visitors with different keywords etc. At the same time, if the searches are limited wouldn't this give you an advantage in terms of other companies out there? If you can get to the top of even those limited amount of searches that is something very good and will generate instant traffic. Since your site is new, I would recommend working hard on promoting it the first 6 months and then expecting results. It would also help to know what niche you're targeting. Care to share this?
