Hi there Reading through this section of the forum it would appear there are some very talented people who make their living from the internet. I hope to get some advice. Around 1 year ago I started JBO Solutions. I have climbed through the serps and now for 3 of my keyword phrases I am no 1 and with several others, on the first page. I was extremely pleased with this but unfortunately I am not achieving the income that I hoped these serp positions would get me. I currently get between 700 - 1000 uniques a day according to my AWstats (I don't know how accurate this is?) I aim to make money from both selling products and some kind of affiliate marketing. at the moment I use Adsense. I make about $2 a day on average from adsense and the actual sales on my site seem to fluctuate from nothing for a few days then the occasional one or 2. I'm looking for some advice as I have put in many many hours in working with this site but do not seem to be getting back even the amount of money I have invested into it. The site is http://www.jbosolutions.co.uk My other site is http://www.ollysguitar.com which I am working on as a side project. Any advice would be gratefully received.
Hi, you have got quite a comprehensive store right there. But selling computer components is a tough business and you have way too much competition on hand. Plus the constant change in pricing of these items. Guess you have put in a lot of effort into this site and you must love computers a lot. Online marketing works very well with niches. But yours is a little too broad. Have you tried getting some CPA affiliate programs that match your website theme such as PC magazines and such? Go to Google and search "yourtopic/keyword + affiliate programs" to find suitable ones. Since you are getting a fair bit of traffic, CPA would be good. But if I were you, I would work on another tight niche instead. Just my opinions. If you are keen on that, read up my free report on how to put everything in place.
Hi thanks for the response. I would not say I love computers but it was just osmething I knew and something I get into relatively easily. A lack of ideas as far as anything else goes is my issue I guess. I will check out the afilliate idea you mentioned but perhaps I should keep trying to think of anotehr alternative at the same time. Thanks for taking the time to help.
Where would you suggest? I kind of though putting too much adsense may undermine the integrity of the site a bit. I would happily trial a chang though and see.
Sure massed advertisements will make it look less professional to some people but if you're making barely any money from sales, why not? Do some testing with a rectangular/square ad block rather than the link units.
Even if you are not promoting google ads, you might want to take a look at their heatmap (identifies best spots on page for ads). https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=17954 Companies spend lots of time and money figuring this type of stuff out.
Ok well I will trial some different types of adsense in a different place for now. I guess I picked the wrong game to get into which is a shame as I have worked very hard to get here. If I can find something to run alongside it that is more of a niche then I will do so, Thanks for all the responses
