Can somebody help me on what hosting service i should be taking? I am into this business for the first time. So kindly put up with me. All i need is a wordpress blog working under an individual domain. Since its just the beginning i cannot afford to pay more on hosting? Is there someone who can help me with this?:(

You can use free hosting. Find it in google with the keywords "free hosting".

For a WordPress blog any Linux based hosting that offers PHP and MySQL should be more than adequate. You don't need a lot of disk or bandwidth when you start with WordPress but as your data increases you'll need more disk space etc for images.

I'd advise you to stay away from free hosts and those offering unlimited everything, instead look for a sensibly priced host with good support. Get recommendations from friends and those you trust.

Register your domain name through a big company such as GoDaddy and then get your hosting elsewhere, that way providing you keep backups you can move to any other host if your first choice of host is a disaster. Keeping the domain and hosting separate stops the host using the domain name to keep you or at least make it awkward to move.

You get what you pay for in life, if it's free then it may have ads on it which is really poor for a business site, whatever they do they are making their money back some way that's for sure.

As others have said, any Linux hosting with PHP and MySQL should be fine for a wordpress blog.. just have a dig around the forums and review sites, i'm sure you'll find something that suits your needs. :)

Looking at your requirement go for shared hosting with Cpanel..Look for company that offers fantastico as well. Fantastico will help you to create wordpress sites with one click installer.

The mean reasons are that you risk having downtime, loss of your site/data/files, and lack of support if you have a problem.

I'll suggest you hostgator's hatchling plan for around $4.95 a month.
