I have to redesign a site to convey the emotion of the company's brand image. The adjectives to best describe the company is: - Fun, not mainstream (underground), laid back, creative, hip Does anyone have any suggestions on layout, color, pictures, sounds, features, or anything else that can help express these emotions?
Fun = find a nice font type (don't use the plain boring ones that corporate sites use Underground = I would imagine dark colors.. Hip = Pop art! (istockphoto.com has plenty, keyword: vector ) Creative = well that's up to you
What does the company do? You may need to think about the marketplace - how would the marketplace perceive your site? How do you want them to react to your site? eg: do you want them to think that your company is 'approachable' - if so, the site needs to be very simple to navigate making it easy for the visitor to get around, or does the company need to be perceived as 'anti-establishment' in which case you go the other way and bend the rules more. Ask yourself what impression a new visitor should form when they first see your site.
If you can't find "pop art" look of vector art, they're essentially the same (Andy Warhol is my hero )
Bullshit. Pop art was a movement in the 60s, vector is a definition for certain methods of computer art. In the 60s no one had even heard of vectors but scientists. If Warhol is truly your hero you would know this, but if you are merely a poser...hey it's your life.
Why would you promote the stereotype of emoism? It's a dangerous cult that pulls young people away from the people THAT loved them and wished the best for them, now they just like death and homo stuff. It's not hip either. Yup.
The best thing you can do when you design a website is find out about your market, not just key words or phrases, learn what they are all about. Take part in their community.
