Advice on dealing with domain squatting

My problem is that I recently bought a high value domain name and want the associated twitter account. The infringing account hasn't been used in years and doesn’t even have a profile picture. I don't have a registered trademark so can't report it for that.

I don't know what to do. I am an individual and not a company so I'm not sure whether I would report an impersonation claim as a company or individual or if this would be relevant.

I would be prepared to buy a trademark as a last resort. Is this guaranteed to work?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

I am in a similar situation, but have a competitor that took my name on twitter and youtube. We are in the process of having our Federal Trademark approved. Guess i will have to wait until it approved to have an attorney to prepare a cease and desist order.
