The booking for .co is started. It is available for whom who has registered company name (My company is trade mark registered, I think I can book it) I want the advice on weather I should book it now as it is Rs.13K for booking or when it will open for all, which is around 15th July, at that time the price would be Rs.1300/- Please give your comments. Thanx in advance. G!
Go to godaddy. It all depends of your domain name, if the name of your company is "NIKE CO.", i suggest it to resister (Sunrise B) NOW! if the name of your company is something small like "Super Monkey Toys CO." maybe it's a good idea to register it as global and save few bucks. With (Sunrise B) = Pro: You'll have a peace of mind / Con: Very expensive With (General Availability) = Pro: If your lucky, you could get cheap / Con: You'll have to be patient until 15th july, you'll have to cross your fingers hoping that not someone else as Pre-Registrated on landrush.
is your company name is generic or madeup words. if they are madeup words then probably you can register in normal fee.
Hey Chandan, thanx for reply. It is madeup words, can you explain more in details or help me on that (where to book or how to book it?) Thanx in advance. G!
You can start looking here: http://www.godaddy.com/tlds/co-domain.aspx?ci=19152 Also... if its made up words <-- plural ...then you should go with the "General Availability". I'll be more worried if the name of my company is something generic like "Apple" or "Wii" then a made up one like "Goomba".
Agreed with Cheat...if it's not a huge, well known corporation, you probably won't be cybersquatted...it's worth just waiting it out until the price goes commercial.
There are so may three word .co domain there. I would like to register a three word domain and let trademark domain unregistered.
i mean just wait for landrush time to finish and you can get the name for cheap also at that time many more registrars may offer .co
if you can wait then wait seriously can you really see google, yahoo etc giving this the same importance as .com ? or any other for that matter If this was supposed to be replacing the .com like everyone is trying to covince us of why use .co yeh it can stand for company ,commerce etc but so can .com why not bring out a completely new one ? why because its never going to be seen thaq way its all marketing and hype to get your cash its a shame to see so many once again going down this road google couldnt care less about it, now thats a worry for all you is it not ? the only people outside the hype marketers giving this any weight is little threads like this look around wheres the buzz ? only sound is coming from the officail junk being put everywhere for the marketing guys thats it a few comments from people like here and then nothing new .com ? erm no
I'm sorry but .COM is fucking old... at the time of it's release, the majority of the 1980's people didn't had a computer and Internet was fucking slow to almost useless. The first time I saw the Internet in my country was in 1993, I was just a kid who didn't had a clue how to buy domain names. Now with .CO new company will have the chance to get the domain they want isn't that great? It's not fair for the new business people to have to deal with ugly long ass .COM domains just because some dude from the 80's took your modern company name before you. Look at acme.com for exemple. The guy hasn't updated the page for 20 fucking years! Where not 1980's anymore. Technology is changing fast
ok but what about people who have worked hard on a com business website paid out for it to be designed, paid out for it to be ranked .com is maybe old but its here and iw certainly will never ever be replaced by a silly marketing giimick typo such as .co so what we have the .com then we all build on a .co in 25 years do we do the same again its not the answer
I think you should wait, as there is no rush there. Just wait and see the price falling down and then register the one you want.
apple.co is going to be redirected to apple.com You have the choice to purchase the new extension (.co) and redirect it to the old extension (.com) or to keep the old extension (.com) and lose traffic for one less letter at the end. If you want to brand and protect your name, it is recommend that you at least register the .co version. This does several things. It brands your site and prevents others from copying your site and calling it yourdomain.co. Some nasty souls may even use it for unethical purposes or to promote pornography. That will do great damage to your business or image of your company. You do not want to be found in such awkward situation just for one less letter. It's is why it's important to have more than one Domain Name. You also have the opportunity to switch your dgafhfgrh3D.com to 3D.co
obviously i know that what worries me is that a lot of people are jumping on this and wheres all the information and comments from only the ones that stand to make money from you buying whichever way you look at it thats a negative point .com old extension man i wish you would actually put some concrete proof behind your claims you keep saying this but i see nothing to back it up honestly if you come up with something then i will eat my words
I think it's not worthy unless it's very good name or your business has something to do with Colombia.
ok going to try this again maybe this time you wont avoid the question or get abusive my opinion and around 99% of others is its not going to go anywhere thats an opinion which everyone is entitled to against or for but you CLAIM the next ".com" its going to take over and .com will end up obsolete we are all mad if we dont jump on board etc etc ok now what i am asking for is some sort of valid proof to back up your arguement anything thats valid not a marketing speech or why YOU think it will be,something substantial to back you massive claims you cant go around telling people that without some sort of facts to put behind it .com being 25 years old all short desireable names taken in .com .co is batter cos it stands for commerce etc everyone will redirect their .com to the .co all these claims are ridiculous and without anything to support it i just hope some poor souls on here have not rushed out purely on your advice the only ones shouting how good it is are the ones profiting from it no matter how you look at it oh and of course you who i guess has read more than his fair share of the hyped up marketing just a reminder i am not arguing for or against with this as i have said to you before but i would like you to back these claims up so how about it seriously i cant find anything with any credible weight behind it can you ? anyone else got anything they can share that would back him up look around where is it ?
