Advice on Buying a banned domain

If a domain has been banned by adsense in the past, will it ever be approved in the future for Adsense if the owner changes?

I am thinking about purchasing a website, primarily for its functionality and content. I asked the current owner if the site was ever banned by google and he replied "Yes". In my opinion this greatly reduced the value of a site, if Google does indeed ban based solely on domain.

If Google would not approve a seperate adsense account for this domain, would they enable me to put my current Google ads on this domain as well? Or am i just asking for trouble?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Seems to me the thing to do would be to contact Google and ask them. That's probably what it will take anyhow. Try doing that before you buy if there's time.

If not, think about other ways to monetize. AdSense is the easiest, but a little research might give you a better alternative, ban or no ban.

Also find out why he was banned.. If you simply fixed how he broke googles TOS and then use your own code (not breaking any other TOS) then you should be fine imo.
