Advice on best way to start marketing

    I have read a lot of great threads in this forum and others on affiliate marketing, and am ready to put in a consistent effort.

    However, as I am just starting out, I don't have any money to spend to make more money. So, I am interested in the article marketing/bum marketing methods.

    As I see it, the primary paths in bum marketing are:

    1. Write articles to submit to Ezinearticles and Goarticles, and ads for USFreeAds that link directly to the merchant sales page (I know that with Ezinearticles it would first have to redirect through a top level domain);

    2. Write articles for the same directories that link to landing/pre-sell pages that I have set up on my domains or on Squidoo (requires extra writing as I would need to write articles AND landing pages with sales copy);

    3. Set up a simple content website or blog for each product/niche I want to work with, and have the articles I submit to the directories link to those, which then contain even more content and pre-sell copy with affiliate links (requires the most writing).

    I will just say, despite my notes in parenthesis above, that writing a larger amount rather than a smaller amount does not necessarily turn me off. I write for a living, and think that I could produce the articles needed fairly quickly.

    I am interested, however, in getting some feedback on what is the best method to choose starting out. I know that a lot of folks who start with affiliate marketing end up quitting cause it does actually require work.

    So, in order to keep motivated, I want to choose the path that is going to result in positive numbers - even very minor income - as quickly as possible. After that initial phase starts to generate enough to fund other efforts, then I will set up more sites, write more, and invest in some PPC marketing, etc.

    Thanks in advance for any insight and tips you guys can provide.

    you have already mentioned in your threads,so all you have to do is give interest.

    Start a site that really interest you and know something about it,
    if you are not interested in topics that you promote at last you finally end up with nothing.

    all i have learned it have patience and promote or write that really interested you,this is way to success.

    I am just starting out too! I am also starting in the article marketing. I have found too and they all say research is key. The only issue I have seen is there is so much competition. There are tons of products to market from clickbank, you have to spend much time finding products that don't have tons of competition. I have a shopping site and i know that is way too broad to start out with that but I did get it listed on google for the domain name with posting free classified ads, posting in forums with links to my site and article marketing. Of course the key is to get on google for shopping mall and there is just way too much competition for that right now. I have learned some things since then. I purchase and ebook that really breaks down these things step by step and it also has a forum where every one shares tips,, like here. It is one of the best books I have found on affiliate marketing and if you want to pm me I can send you all the link. It really is the best money I spent and I know the methods work. You just have to be consistant.

    I've been using the bum marketing method for a while for advertising, and it's worked quite well for me. Many of my articles show up on the front page of Google for my targeted keywords in just a few days.

    What I do is pick a keyword that gets a decent amount of searches with little competition, then I write the article. The article links to either my main site, another page on my site, or a Squidoo lens I set up (these are great for getting on the front page of other keywords as well).
