Advice on ads on my website

Discussion in 'Pay Per Click Advertising' started by Jason Harris, Apr 29, 2013.

    Hello all,

I'm designing a website at the moment, of which the primary function is to showcase our inventory, but gaining additional revenue through bringing some pay per click or other ad types onto the website is something I'm considering. Is this considered to be too obnoxious to people browsing the site? Should I consider video ads as well?

    Thanks,
    Jason Harris

You have to decide if the space you are using to run an ad, would you make more money if it was an affiliate product that would be sold there.

GoWithABC, what do you mean by an 'affiliate product' exactly? And how would you judge which would generate more revenue? Can you figure out exact figures or is it sort of a guessing game?

Ads should always be set up where the user can see the ad. This meaning that you should have the ad in the middle of the content. if you are using wordpress you can use the free plugin "Easy AdSense" which does this for you. You can set where you ad is placed in the content or anywhere on the website. For instance if I have a 300X250 ad, I can put it right at the start of the article on the left or right side where the person would start to read. Also you can put ad right in the middle of the content as well.

Remember to test ad placement ad to see what fits.

Also be sure the ads relate to the kind of traffic you are trying to bring to your site. Designer shoe ads on a tech blog for example wouldn't be very useful or productive.
