Hey guys, as some may have seen my post in the Introduction thread, I am hoping you guys could advise me on what Web Host and package (Shared, VPS, Dedicated) is appropiate for the forum a friend and I want to create.

The forum will be based on MMA, Boxing and Wrestling called The Top Rope, we have already bought our domain names and aim to use vBulletin on it. Basically we expect to get like like 100 active members in the first year to 18 months and then hopefully expand from there. Therefore is there anyone out there that could give us some advice as we both know nothing to do with Web Hosters.

We have both heard alot about Hostgator but some have mentioned URLJet and Global Gold as they are vBulletin orientated but they charge more a month to instal vBulletin.

Help would be greatly appreciated.:D

Well, You should go like, Shared in the First year and then opt for A VPS.

You should need something like 10-20 Gb space (If you allow Uploads ) And a Bandwidth above 25Gb per month according to the activity.

When you go for VPS, Buy something huge.

    Thanks.

I agree to start out with a shared hosting plan.

I have to agree to this too. You can afford a shared cPanel hosting plan for less than $5 / month. Start small and if your traffic increases alot, then go for vps and later on dedicated. That's how websites grow. :) Good luck!

I would start with shared hosting plan. I can't agree more with others. But do your own research when you sign up.

Vbuletin is paid forum software which provide own support. I'm certain yiu will be able to do everything and you will be able to ask them to help you as well.

Shared hosting is really good idea to start with, especially if you don't have any experience in this field. Hostgator is known as quality web host so you will not make a mistake if you order the hosting from them.
