Sorry if this is the wrong forum. Basically, I am thinking of introducing a point system to my forums. I will have a 'store' that these points can be spent at. I am trying to think of a fair points system that will reward users adequately, yet keep things cheap for me as I will be buying most of these real world items out of my own pocket. These are the things I will reward users for using points: Posting replies and topics - 1 point Getting a high score in the forum arcade - 50 points Winning a forum arcade tournament (these are set up by me) - 200 points Referring another member - 10 points (not sure about this one, since it can be easily abused using fake accounts. Sure I can prevent it, but seems like an unnecessary headache). Anyway, I listed above what I want to give points for, and the amount of points for each of those actions. Right now, I plan to sell things like T-shirts for my site. Not sure on what sort of price I can put for these. Maybe something like 2000 points. What I would like to hear from you guys is maybe some suggestions as to how to adjust the amount of points given for each activity, the price of items in my store, and other objects I could put in my store. I want a point system in which my users feel fair about the price, but at the same time, I don't want to be spending so much just giving things away. That's all I can think of right now.
Maybe you could give them .1 points for each post the referred person makes. Also, only give them the referral points after they make 10 good posts. 2000 is way too high though. People won't post for 1 cent. At least drop it to 1000. This at least makes it reachable. You should also offer some huge prize that gives a couple big referrers something to work for.
Yea. I'm not sure how advanced the cash system is, but I want to make it so that the one who is referred has to make at least 10 or maybe 25 posts before the referrer gets credit.
