Hi, My friend previously engaged someone to create her website but the company is not very responsive to her request and changes hence she has plans to change the company and get my help to re-vamp the website using pre-loaded template and do simple maintence herself. I've have done my own website (simple) one but has no experience doing those domain registering thingy so I need some help. The website is currenlty still running, how do i do the transfer over to the new company? And after the transfer if i needed to do the changes, does it means the website has to be inaccessible to the customer? How can i ensure the old website are still running well till im ready with the new look? Any advice is much appreciated. TIA.

It is advised your host to be located at your targeted region.
as for domain, you will simply need to change nameservers for your domain name of your new hosts

I think there is a little confusion here between host location and server location.

Server location is what's going to affect the speed. The physical server should be close to your target audience. As far as the host location, your host can be located anywhere.

Try to find a hosting provider that has its servers in a data center that is geographically close to you. Some providers will even let you choose the location. Just ask or note it in your requests when you place your order. As far as the domain name you only have to change your DNS to point to your new host.
