Hi there everyone, I want to first state how much I enjoy digitalpoint, amazing info! The details: I created a fansite for a newer musical group months ago. Now I am getting around 5000 uniques a month and maybe 30K in pageviews. I currently have no ads. I planning some adSense, but think real money is in affiliates. My question is what type of affiliates too use for my particular site (super targeted traffic). MANY THANKS! -bkanot
If you are in US you may check it out with commission junction btw Adsense is also not bad to taste your interest.
I will strongly advice to have AdSense to start with until you find other worthwhile affitialtes. You are loosing money everyday but not having AdSense already.
or you can try to sell some ad spaces for DP members. I am sure you can start off low and as you gain more traffic, you can increase the price. Just to get some revenue going.
As mentioned above, amazon might be a good source of revenue for you as well, offer people the opportunity to buy related cd's online, im not sure what other music referral programs there are but there is bound to be a few.
Amazon seems effective for site that lend themselves for shopping like electronic items, music, CD, books and games etc. I think amazon at least can beat YPN which is yet limited to US, while Amazon always encouraged the international publisher globaly, this is good thing.
thanks for everyones advice and input, great stuff! now i've started to ad adsense for a phase one ... quick question ... do the google image ads pay per impression? or is the same as the text links per click. thanks again.
cool. any idea how much per 1000? Also, is google the best option for banner ads, or could anyone recommend a better company? THanks!
Id also think about offering some text link ads on your site for sites related to yours in reasonable positions. You might also want to consider finding another site to partner with. Just a couple of alternatives to adsense or affiliates.
I would try out either Google or Valueclickmedia...VCM pays CPM and CPC I get an easy $6 CPM for their medium rectangle!
Image ads can be either CPM (pay per impression) or regular CPC (pay per click) ads. See: https://adwords.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=7687&ctx=sibling
Thank you FIVE529, that sounds pretty heathly, I think I will take your recommendation. tlainevool - I am a publisher, so does that mean that AdSense will then still pay myself CPM? With Google banner ads? Cheers!
AdSense will pay you either CPM or CPC, depending on what the advertiser has chosen to do. As a publisher you really have no control over which type of ads will be displayed, and therefore how you get paid.
Are you guys in Music Artist/Band niche or some other high paying niche like finance, debt, etc? I think $6 CPM is way too high. I barely get 40 - 50 cents CPM by Adsense.
i'm in music band niche. around 16,000 page views a day. adsense is doing 2 bucks a day (only day 3) but was looking for a higher conversion. is this just the reality of these types of sites? personally, a pay-per-impression banner would do wonders. so I'm wondering if valueclickmedia will do something like 3-5 dollars per 1000 anything else anyone might try? thanks alot!
