Advice needed for Free Autoresponders

    Hi guys,

    I am working quite hard in list building techniques with a small business I am creating, but I am earning too little yet. My country applied a 15% tax for international payments so now my online investments became a real pain to maintain.

    I've been using AWeber since the beginning, now I have no choice but to choose another Autoresponder, a free alternative until I start earning enough to reinvest the money.

    I would like to hear your advice here, what alternatives are there to use? Of course I cannot expect a service similar to AWeber because I've been paying 20 dollars for it, but some free service that can do the magic for a small slowly-growing list.

    Thanks in advance!
    Marce

    If money is a situation to maintain it, then heres an idea. Make enough quality posts on this site, and charge your signature link with being a premium member then theres no problem.

    Try the Getresponse.com trial,
    When you have made some bucks then buy it.

    Sorry, but if you cannot afford $20 for an autoresponder you should think twice about trying to make money in the IM business. It is a BUSINESS so you have to invest some money first!

    Just my 2 cents...

    And that's why I will still stick moving forward despite the obstacles, because everyone tells me that I cannot do it :)

    This stage is transitory, my "beloved" country is making a real pain for us to make international payments, this government is getting similar to Venezuela or Cuba, where you cannot buy anything from the outside because of the crazy taxes.

    I've been investing in IM for the past year, I am working hard to make a solid income but I am aware that this take time, and this new tax was simply too much for me to handle at this time, I am spending like 15% of my full-time job salary in this business and I have to feed a family, so I cannot keep it going this way, I need to seek for a new approach.

    I hope that these free services at least help me to start earning something until I can afford the investments, I won't quit because of the obstacles, hopefully! hahaa

    Sorry, didn´t mean to be so harsh. :(

    But I think the autoresponder is one of the most important tools in your business. You already know Aweber and its good deliverability.
    If your emails can´t pass the spam filter because of a free or cheap autoresponder you don´t have to bother about 15% tax, because you
    don´t make any sales at all.

    Best of luck to you and your business!

    Rene

    Ok, I have a free autoresponder for you to try out and that is MailChimp. It's a free account, up to 2,000 subscribers and works great. You will have to pay if your list goes over 2,000 but if you have that many people on your list, you should already be making enough money to pay for what ever you need.

    And yes I have accounts on Aweber, GetResponse, iContanct, and Constant Contact. I also run my own MTA for my students so I keep up on autoresponders.

    Good news, Marce! As luck would have it :), I've just written 3 (or maybe 4?) articles on the MailChimp autoresponder. I use it myself because I'm in the same position as you - smallish list and not wanting to pay for an autoresponder when the money coming in, won't cover the cost of Aweber.....yet.

    I don't think I've got enough posts to add a live link here yet, but go to MySecondMillion.com and you will see the articles there. They are detailed and full of useful info - including some extra info for when you are designing your forms that will save you days of frustration with the MailChimp design software. This vital extra info was un-earthed by some frantic to and fro emails with their support team. But my readers do not have to go through what I went through - I did the hard work so they don't have to.

    MailChimp also has a Pay as You Go system where you get some extra automation software for 3cents per email. Otherwise you can use the Forever Free option that gives you 12.000 free emails per month.

    Thank you guys for your kind words,
    I was evaluating my situation in the weekend, and I realized how important is to keep AWeber up and running, what you are saying Rene is quite true, if the emails get into the spam bin, I won't make sales so it won't help at all using free alternative.
    I wanted to say thanks for that clarification, it really helped me to think things better.

    Absolutely Rene !You must opt for AR which has good deliverability percentage .Else , no point investing time and effort in list building

    Nowadays you can't even get free water dude. So forget about the free tools. And remember that they are mostly fraud and out dated. Aweber is a cool tool. you can continue it. and I don't think its an expensive thing. you have to invest something before you earn a good amount.

    The reason why people generally don't think there are $0.00 reources is that there is not enough time to plumb all the avenues that they'd be required to look down in order to find the things out there that REALLY ARE "free" (aka $0.00). In this case emailsequence. I've tested this, re-tested, and then re-tested it again before I was comfortable enough to add it into my site resource module list. Works like a charm. @marcemuza, the only caveat is that you need some coding skills to get this up and running (php/html/css). And what I've just pointed you to is not the only "free" autoresponder script on the Internet. As I do info-search and by-product sales, I have another, FULLY-FUNCTIONAL autoresponder application that I found in an Asian website search and am using personally as well as this one. Please enjoy this resource and feel free to PM me with any other questions you may have @marcemuza :)

    @marcemuza,I'm not assuming whether or not you have coding skills, but I though you might be well-served by another code snippet that I found "in the wild";

    <?php

    //Initialize PHP variables
    $from = "";
    $to = "";
    $cc = "";
    $bcc = "";
    $subject = "";
    $allheaders = "";
    $otherheaders = "";
    $message = "";
    $splittingheaders = true;

    // Get email from stdin
    $fd = fopen("php://stdin", "r");
    $email = "";
    while (!feof($fd)) {
        $email .= fread($fd, 1024);
    }
    fclose($fd);

    // Parse email line by line into an array
    $lines = explode("\n", $email);

    // For each of the lines in the email
    for ($i=0; $i<count($lines); $i++) {
    	// If separating headers from the message body
        if ($splittingheaders) {
    		$allheaders .= $lines[$i]."\n";

            // Watch for special headers
            if (preg_match("/^subject: (.*)/i", $lines[$i], $matches)) {
                $subject = $matches[1];
            }
            elseif (preg_match("/^from: (.*)/i", $lines[$i], $matches)) {
                $from = $matches[1];
    			$fromEmail = ereg("([[:alnum:]_\.\-]+@([[:alnum:]_\.\-]+\.)+[[:alpha:]]{2,4})", $from, $emailMatch);
    			$fromEmail = $emailMatch[1];
            }
            elseif (preg_match("/^to: (.*)/i", $lines[$i], $matches)) {
                $to = $matches[1];
            }
            elseif (preg_match("/^cc: (.*)/i", $lines[$i], $matches)) {
                $cc = $matches[1];
            }
            elseif (preg_match("/^bcc: (.*)/i", $lines[$i], $matches)) {
                $bcc = $matches[1];
            }
    		else {
    			$otherheaders .= $lines[$i]."\n";
    		}
        }
    	else{	// Add this line to email message body
            $message .= $lines[$i]."\n";
        }

    	// If this line is blank
        if (trim($lines[$i])=="") {
            // The header section has ended
            $splittingheaders = false;
        }
    }

    // Read in the list of recent emails from the filesystem
    $recentMatches = 0;
    $fd = fopen("/path/to/RecentList.txt", "r");
    while (!feof($fd)) {
        $recentList .= fread($fd, 1024);
    }
    fclose($fd);

    $lines = explode("\n", $recentList);
    for ($i=0; $i<count($lines); $i++) {
    	$items = explode("^", $lines[$i]);
    	$itemFrom = $items[0];
    	$itemDate = strtotime($items[1]);
    	if($itemFrom == $fromEmail) {
    		$recentMatches++;
    	}
    }

    // Add this email to the list and save the list to the filesystem
    $fd = fopen("/path/to/recentList.txt", "w");
    for ($i=0; $i < count($lines); $i++) {
    	if($i > 0 || count($lines) < 10)
    		fwrite($fd, $lines[$i] . "\n");
    }
    fwrite($fd, $fromEmail . "^" . $date);
    fclose($fd);

    // If the user isn't from our domain and hasn't sent too many recent emails
    if($recentMatches < 8 && !strpos($from, '@yourdomain.com'))  {
         // Then send an autoresponse back to the user
         mail("$from", "Responding subject", "", "From: Responder Name <responder@yourdomain.com>");
    }

    // If the user isn't from our domain and hasn't sent too many recent emails
    if($recentMatches < 8 && !strpos($from, '@yourdomain.com')) {
    	// Forward the email
    	mail("First Last <email@yourdomain.com>", "$subject", "$message", "From: $from\n");
    	mail("First Last <email2@yourdomain.com>", "$subject", "$message", "From: $from\n");
    }

    ?>

    Code (markup):
    This is yet another example of what can be found in the sprawling chaos-set also known as the Internet. I'm hoping that this is of some more help to you in your situation. What I've tried to do is to give you somesome $0.00 tools to let you have control of your situation.

    the great deal with aweber is we could add our on bulk list to our autoresponder but thus free listwire doesnot supporting this feature.May be trying both listwire and aweber is a great idea for internet marketers who focus on different niches.I personally use both of them.
