Hi I just created a website and looking for some advice on it, I think it looks pretty good so far, but alot of you all in these forums are experts on websites, optimazation and all that jazz, just wanted to get some feedback from all of you to see what you think of my site, and maybe some suggestions on how to improve it, or maybe some things you might think would be nice in the site, I dont know, but really any feedback would be great.

    The site is TheGatorChomp.com

Well let me know what you think please.

    Dave

    Dave,

Just a quick review and some thoughts about your site...

I feel the colors are too dark - my opinion is that the outside background is fine, but a light inner background and colored text only for headings would be more appealing. This would allow you to highlight the graphics also.

I see you are using a Wordpress theme... The right sidebar seems to be traveling down the page (it should be at the top under your "google custom search").

If you would like me to go into your Wordpress admin and fix this, PM me and we can connect!

    Hope this helps

The rollover links are hard to see when the mouse is over it. You want it to be bright colored on mouse over. Maybe use that tealish blue color you are using for "The Gator Chomp - True Fanatics".

For many years I used to have black on everything. It really does not work out too well as we think. Try putting some of the content in boxes them so they won't look so mushed together. I do not know the correct terms, so please excuse me if I'm confusing you.

Let me give you an example:
(I didn't make this page, I just suggested to make changes and this was what he done with it.)

    Before: wildernessoutfittersarchery.com/HomePage.html
    After: wildernessoutfittersarchery.com/

I am not saying this layout is good, but it's better then how it was before. Text is easier to read and content is more in place. I was just using this as an example.

You also want to make it clear what your website is about. You normally have about 5-10 seconds to show your point because a user will normally go on to the next site if he does not know what exactly your site is about. You want to make the initiate landing spot the brightest part of your page, so it would be the first spot a user will look at first. This is where you want to explain what your site is about and may even be the most important part of your page.

Also, the text on the footer is slightly cut off.

I hope this helps a little.

Im not sure why, but ur footer doesnt show all the way and it doesnt look like it has anything to do with ur footer margin, maybe padding.

I checked your site in all browsers using http://browsershots.org/ . Your sidebar drops down below your post in every browser it was run on. Your search box is below the post while the Google search logo is at the top right of the page also in every browser. EDIT: I just realized the only browser that displays your page correctly is MSIE 7.0. Are you only checking your page in this browser? If so use the link I gave you to make your site cross browser compatible.

Light text on a dark background is a horrible design choice. Its hard to read and tires out your visitors eyes very quickly. Since its a Florida Gator site why don't you consider making it brighter? Light blues and dark text seem appropriate for a site like yours.

Also if your having trouble coding the site just find a free Wordpress theme and go with that. Changing the sites colors and adding some logos isn't a big task for anyone but leave the layout code alone unless your using it to learn.

    Hope this helps:)
