So I have a site up and it has only had a little over 100 unique unique visitors so far this month. I've had no one click on my google ad so far (granted the ads have only been up for about a week). Now only getting slightly over unique 100 visitors so far this month is pretty weak right? I do accept and even expect getting what is considered a high amount of visitors will likely be extra challenging for me, because my site is very very much something that would appeal to a certain niche market of people, but surely there's got to be some things that someone, even with a really niche market, can do to not have such pathetic web traffic, right? So what sort of advice would you give someone in this situation, whom is still a bit new to this sort of thing?
100 visitors in your first month really isn't bad. It's to be expected. What you want to do is find as many other blogs or forums that are in your same unique niche and discuss your niche there. Make sure to link back to your site. Ask some of the blog owners within your niche if you can exchange links with them or offer to provide them with a guest post. You will start to see the traffic numbers grow. Make sure you have a google sitemap and that you registered your site in Google. It's not hopeless, if your niche really is unique, you should eventually rise to be one of the leaders in that niche.
Well it's not the first month for the website as a whole, but it is the first month for having google adwords, and my blog...I really should have been more specific. The website has been up for less than a year, but not too far off really (of course a lot of that time was spent just learning the ropes with CSS and HTML and experimenting a lot with those, I am still somewhat new to this). I haven't been exchanging links, but perhaps I will have to do that. I've put links up, but haven't asked anyone to put mine up in exchange.
Having proper keywords, site description, etc.. that are straight to the point of the content list better in search engines. Also, you can try trade links with other websites/blogs to spread your URL around.
