Advice for Domain Name offer / bid.

I have a client who is interested in a domain name that is not in use (nor does it appear that it ever has been in use). Network Solutions has this domain locked up pretty tight and we can't even tell who actually owns the domain name (the WHOIS simply lists NetSol contacts). SO, that leaves us with their "make an offer on this domain" service.

I'm curious if anyone else has used this method for obtaining a domain name and if they have any advice / strategies for obtaining the domain at a fair price.

    Thanks in advance!

Ill tell ya what- they aren't going to be giving you any bargins when you throw a bid in- Id try calling them directly and asking to speak with someone in that branch of their company, try to talk the price down.

Thanks... I'll pass this on to the client (or call them myself...)

Yup, NetSol does that only when it doesn't want to sell it cheap - don't be surprised if they try to rip you off!
