Hi, Same as everyone else, I'm looking to increase the traffic to my site www.wallofmetal.com but I'm tired of paying for Adwords, the service is free (as long as people link back to me) so I don't really want to be paying too much for it. any ideas please? Ta very much
Hey Buddy , just a quick one.. The Link back box has an incorrect spelling of promotion.. "Promtions".. Maybe you should change this for a "tighter" phrase ? Seeing as you are #1 for "Unique Heavy Metal Promotions"? You could try going for something like any of the following ( from overture results ) Keyword Suggestion Searches / month Heavy Metal 7,050 Heavy Metal Bands Accept 4,500 Heavy Metal Saxon 4,020 Heavy Metal Music 4,020 Heavy Metal Bands 2,970 Lamb of God Heavy Metal Band 2,070 Heavy Metal Magazine 1,830 Heavy Metal Testament 1,290 History of Heavy Metal 1,050 Heavy Metal Hard Rock 990 You could ask your core members to change the anchor text to something new ( and to something people search for :-> ) Maybe you should ( you're probably there already..) start posting ( or better still pay some posters to sign up and generate hype ) in some Heavy Metal forums.. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=heavy+metal+forums&btnG=Search And also I think you should get some avatars designed ( one for yourself too , with your domain!) that members of your site could use on their forums...? Sorry im not an expert but just some stuff to think about.... best of luck!
Maybe you should add a blog to your site. This way you will bring in more traffic, and there will be an actual reason for someone to buy ads from you.
Yes add a blog and promote it through StumbleUpon. You'll find a pretty big audience who's into metal stuff. They also have the $0.05 per targeted visitor if you really want to jump start it.
If I added a Blog, what do I blog? It seems like a stupid question but is it news about the site? general metal news nicked from other sites or the bands own blogs?
I'd go for crazy Youtube Videos. For instance, hire some hot models to play naked but have the instruments covering their privates. Heck, they could just be pretending to play, it doesn't even need to be real. I'd go after as much viral, crazy, and silly traffic through videos and podcasts that are very weird, odd, or off the wall. Maybe give some nerdy kid a "Metal Makeover" and give him a mullet, some ripped up mesh Dio t-shirt, and some rocker boots. Just get crazy would be my suggestion. Have fun.
Youtube is also a good idea, but the video needs to be really really unique and provoking ! if you open a blog then you can blog about album reviews, or write your thought on the latest news in the heavy metal scene (don't just copy it), pull videos that you think are awesome, start a small contest (demo, coolest guitar showoff or artwork contest etc) and pay music bloggers to blog about it, bash other artists, bash 'wanna be', pull a demo songs from band and write your thoughts. These are thoughts from someone who think Alanis Morisette sounds nicer than Sepultura, so forgive me if this is not a good idea.
I would also agree that viral is the way to go. Music is a very opinionated and dominated market. You're promoting a site with no content or community, there really isn't much other way than viral marketing. Unique viral marketing.
I would definitely try using Stumbleupon and Digg through the freebies forum. Just offer to stumble/digg other's sites if they do the same to you.
That's a great idea! Having something allowing them to upload their face image, then giving them the ability to "put on" all sorts of heavy metal clothes. Maybe make their own little music video, would be really cool. That would be viral!
Or here's another idea... What if you could create Heavy Metal characters similar to how you can create South Park characters at a place like this... http://www.sp-studio.de/ But instead you could have an assortment of long hair wigs, leather pants, and all the works. That would be pretty cool!
Wow, That's a s**t hot idea!!!! I think it's a bit beyond my knowledge, although I'm ok at hacking code together any idea how to get it done?
No, I wish I knew. Maybe look for someone to do it under the services section. There may be someone there. Although, maybe there's some open source code that could do something of that sort. Otherwise, maybe there's something like that that can be done using Flash. Anyone know?
