I'm developing with some friends a site about cars. We already decided to put wallpapers on the site, but we now this will not provide much adsense revenue. What kind of content should i add to my site to have a decent income?

Firstly I must point out that using any type of images brings a large consideration about copyright with it. So make sure that you have permission to use the wallpapers you are providing.

That being said lots of written content normally works best. I don't know what your skillset is, but lets say you know alot about tuning cars. Write a few tutorials or tips about tuning cars.

Take what you know and create content from that. With cars there are quite a lot of different topics you can cover. Just make sure that your content is of good quality.

From adsense point of view, you must include articles about "car loans" and "Tax" involved .Most of your ads displayed will be targetted to cars but you will also get ads for words like "cars loans", "tax consultants", etc. which are higher paying .
Mention these in title tags and in headings and somewhere in content as well so you get the ads you want .

Anything and everything cars will work! Articles, musings, news, contests, images, discussion etc etc. I've worked on my roomates site for 3 years now and we started with a few stories and tutorials and forums.... this month we the site made it into performance auto and sound. Nothing comes easy,,, I would actually not worry much right now about revenue and concentrate on content. check out photoshopchop.com for a unique site about cars and photoshop... also if you want car wallpapers,, I can sell you a clone of an automotive wallpaper website, approx 4000 hires images.

    Two suggestions:

    1. don't work with friends.

    2. don't give anything away for free unless you already know how you are going to monetize it.

    Reasons:

    1. It always (ALWAYS) ends up messy at some point.

    2. Unless you can make money by giving something away, you will lose money indefinitely.

Which car site do you run? I pretty much know them all. PM if you want to keep it private.

If you want high paying ads , you can have seperate sections for car insurance, car rentals, car loans, car dealer etc - keywords that are related to "high value transactions" can generate high value clicks.
