Hey, guys I know its not legal for you to advertise your fast food resturant using like the keyword macdonalds. But is it legal for you to use keywords of another business if your business is not in direct competition with the other company?
I believe there was a dispute between Google and Geico over Google Adwords advertisers using Geico in sponsored ads. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/08/15/google_loses_adwords_trademark_case/ http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/09/09/google_geico_settlement/ http://www.peakpositions.com/news/geico-vs-google.htm The company may not like you bidding on their keywords or advertising with them. I would ask them first. Chances are good they will say no.
Can you be more specific? What exactly is a "keyword" of another business? I could advertise using the word "Yahoo" if I were selling a stock valuation of Yahoo's stock. But adding "Google" or "MSN" would be a no no. It's all about relevance. Is this what you mean?
ok lets say have a site that reviews wholesalers suppliers online. Could i use the keyword of the wholesalers company on like google adwords?
You need to ask the company. Technically speaking no, as you may be competing with their campaigns if they use AdWords and because it is trademark infringement. If you get permission to use their company name in AdWords, however, it is perfectly acceptable.
You can do that. There is nothing wrong with that. By the way, a lot of people use their competitors' sitename as keywords when they advertise with adwords.
