To Digital Point moderators, Who gave me the bunch of infractions? I believe 1 will suffice instead of an infraction per thread, even though I still find them unjustified. I got the infractions for duplicated threads (and all of them are now removed except for one which I created quite some time ago). They are not all the same as my promotions differ from time to time and removing all of my threads and classifying them all as duplicates is ridiculous. Besides, there isn't a clearly defined rule on the advertising forum. If duplicated threads are strictly disallowed, does that mean I can only post 1 advertisement thread in the advertising forum forever? What's more? Threads with different contents/promotions were also removed! I hope someone can provide me with a justified explanation of how things work around here and not fire infractions with a vague reason. Best Regards, Jay / JFSG
Duplicate threads are not allowed. If you are offering the same (or similar) product/service, you may not repost it. If you have a change to it (like a promotion), just use the Bump/Edit/Relist option in the original.
Well very apparently the "bump" function only works once a month? Any other forums I've been to have been 7 days or less! FYI, when I clicked on the "Bump / Edit" button, there is no edit feature available. BTW, there are also lots of other people (E.g. SmileServe) who posts "duplicates" all the time and seems to be doing it pretty fine.
Premium members can bump weekly. If other forums allow you to do it more often, then you might be better off just using those ones. Either way, duplicate (or similar) threads are not allowed. If you see someone violating our rules, just use the "Report Post" option and it will be dealt with appropriately.
I think you should just click on every single thread starter at the web hosting advertising forum and give them 1 infraction for virtually single thread made just like how you or someone else did to me. I selected the first 15 usernames I see and guess what? http://forums.digitalpoint.com/search.php?searchid=7767747 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/search.php?searchid=7767750 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/search.php?searchid=7767752 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/search.php?searchid=7767753 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/search.php?searchid=7767756 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/search.php?searchid=7767775 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/search.php?searchid=7767787 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/search.php?searchid=7767777 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/search.php?searchid=7767789 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/search.php?searchid=7767779 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/search.php?searchid=7767798 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/search.php?searchid=7767808 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/search.php?searchid=7767809 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/search.php?searchid=7767810 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/search.php?searchid=7767813 I believe something has to be done here. Things are really unfair.

You can try searching for yourself. Someone (maybe you) obviously didn't like me.
Well considering that I just "reported" all the above offenders to you, you might want to take some action on them or work out a permanent solution.
Yep... When you use the Report Post option, it goes into a queue for moderators to look at, so they will be.
I know it might not feel like it, but the mods do take action. I randomly check posts I've reported and they are 99% of the time deleted. Also, sometimes you should take a look at: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/spy.php And you'll see a flood of deleted posts by mods, but it depends upon the time of day (they are only human and can't do it 24x7 ;-)).
Actually deleting the posts isn't the point. The problem is nobody knows or follows the rules. Even when reported, I see a number of folks are still repeating it. Worst of all, reporting it is futile since virtually every user there violates DP's rules and a moderator can simply go there and spam deletes without users reporting them. DP needs to do something about that forum (or maybe even other forums as well) or just remove their stupid rule that does nothing except for creating unfairness.
Unfortunately, if people want to spam they will. Eventually, they will get banned, but probably just come back and register another account (if they don't already have one). The company/domain/service/whatever aren't linked to the user (as in register your company and domain, then post to offer the service - hint, hint Shawn - something worth considering?); if it was then it would be easier to programmatically control (just my view, not DP's). The market is a free one (DP don't make any money), so there aren't the same kind of controls as other (paid) marketplaces. I know Shawn has posted quite a few times though there is automation in place to deal with a lot of spam and other stuff in the works. I understand your frustration (have the same with the SEO and Link Development section - looks like some of the "what is" spamming group returned recently).
As a matter of fact I've been to many forums with similar marketplaces with better policing. IMO, those are positive examples to learn from.
Which ones for example? Are they as large as DP? I've looked at a few free ones before and didn't see any better than DP yet.
