I have a website in mind that I feel can generate a lot of interest and many thousands of daily unique and repeat customers. It seems to me that for sites, blogs, etc. that don't actually sell any particular good or service but rather serve good "content" - the most important metric for generating advertising revenue is the number of unique and repeat customers? Q1) Is my thinking correct? Q2) What is the approximate number of unique daily views that a site needs to be able to command good advertising rates? Q3) It seems that many sites/blogs which have large and loyal followings dont use Adsense but rather a mixture of many ads that they set the rate for themselves. Why don't they use Adsense instead? Thanks
I did a google search to see if I can find some good resources for you. Here are a few that I thought were good for content-websites and what elements attract advertisers. Good luck and I hope they help. http://www.powerhomebiz.com/blog/2006/04/how-to-attract-advertisers-to-your-web.html http://www.ojr.org/ojr/wiki/make_money/ The first link is a little dated but its great information. The last link is based on "news content websites" but some information may be applicable to you.
You are on the right track, write quality content and lots of it. The more the better. Also PR helps so keep on building backlinks. I don't use adsense on some of my sites because they don't generate enough revenue and look spammy compared to home grown advertising.
