Is the Facebook for promotion effective? (paid / unpaid). Which options are using the most? (group, site, tests, applications, paid advertising, ....)? What do you think is the greatest potential?

The article is quite interesting. Most of Facebook's income comes from advertising, so I guess it must work well at least to some companies.

I think the promotion is depend on the market, what kind of market do you enter. If you are promoted IM niche, I think FB ads's not effective

    Hey there,

Seems theres a little confusion about facebook here!

    Just clear everything up:

Groups, fan pages and PPC ads are three different things on facebook.

Groups are free to set up created by members say for example "I love chips", people join write on the wall, and you can mail all members and create events under the group. Which those invited to and RSVP - Night clubs work well here.

Fan pages are what you would create if you were a (for example) celebrity, facebook users become "fans" and it shows in there profile (along with groups) you can't message all members.

Finally facebook, allows you to create PPC ad campaigns, its special as you can be very target specific, for example you could target 20 year old women whose interests are fashion and live in France. The ad would only show to these women, and you pay "per click".

Hope that clears it up for you guys!

    Sam

I like the fan pages in that once you gain a fan, you get continued contact with them. It's also very easy to set up a paid facebook ad from your fan page as well. I don't put a lot of money into advertising but justify the money spent there just for the continued contact and viral feature, that when they become a fan, their friends often see that.
