Ok, I submitted to a bunch of directories since october, some free, some paid, a feature listing in Aviva. I had a few sales, but overall traffic doesn't exceed 35-40 visitors/day. What else can I do to bring more traffic? I tried shopping.com, shopzilla, adwords, but 90% of visitors are from yahoo and google search engines. I built it myself using Y SiteBuilder and not knowing anything about building a website. I learn along the way, so please don't be harsh about the design. Thanks!
Hello, Try to add more and more content and these page should be seo friendly... Forget about Directories, the 95% of the traffic come for search engines.. Do you have any money to invest? Best regards, Jakomo
Yeah, but don't directory listings help with my search engine rankings? I could invest some money, but I don't know in what
Hi, For my input I have this to say: Be very targeted for your traffic. Be as targeted as you can, this business you are in requires that. Dont focus on the HOW of your business, focus on the WHAT. I would recomend positioning yourself as an expert, write articles about what you sell, give free advice how to do certain stuff in your business, link to relevant sites that are not your competitors, let me name i.e interior design pages or something like that, home fashion ( I mean when my sister was designing her bathroom she was surfing endless of home deqor sites for ideas and stuff ) Regarding offers you should really get everything str8. I can never sell you a battery for one million dollars no matter how good of a salespitch I have or how well written my offer is. I can however sell you a house for 100k that is wourth 1m no matter how bad of a salespitch I have or how bad my offer is. Dont confuse offer with price.. they are so far away that it is kind a crazy. You are in a market that is NOT unique but you bring VALUE. In your market you have extremely high competition level so you will need to focus on your offers, buy this and get this with it. Make the offer exceed your price and if you find some unique points, USE THEM as much as you can. If you find targeted traffic that is exposed by a good offer + price + product your sales will go up. 90% of sales are emotional. and you are in the 10% the practical. but wait you can become part of the emotinal sales too.. know your customer and why they are buying what you sell and you can tailor your products and offers torwards the emotional part. i.e Women dont go out and buy a lipstick and say.. well.. glad I took care if this issue. Everybody goes out to buy a battery and say.. well.. dont have to worry about this the next 3 months. I hope you are registering what Im saying Edit: find more relevant products. I once saw this uber cool dishwashing brush that pumped the soap into the brush, nice elegant design too. ( get it ? ) Well .. enough from me.. I hope my ranting was of any use
When I submit my sites to directories, I do it for long term SEO. Directories won't give you much traffic, but if you use the right anchor text when you submit your site to the directories it will help you out in the search engines in the long run. I have a site that most of the links pointing to it is from directories. I'm #2 in Google, Yahoo, and MSN for my major search term. Here's a really good tutorial that can help you get some long term traffic: http://seo-guy.com/tutorial.html
hello i can make you the traffic you till 10.000 visitors every day , throgh my yahoogroups ! contact me if you like to try
Thanks, guys! Really good advices here. One more thing: should I buy a link or banner on a related website? Or maybe a link exchange?
Well, it depends on the website. I think I can help you business wise if you want. just PM me if you are interested.
My website is in the signature. Thanks, but I don't need offers, I need some advice. I gotta be sure I know what to do before I look for offers.
No offense but I looked at your website ( that long reply was from me ) That is kind of all the time I can invest in helping you for free. But I can give you allot more advice if you have some budget.
I think you should just study up on SEO. Personally, I wouldn't pay a dime for anything until you have done your home work. I've got myself in trouble before by being anxious to make money with out getting some knowledge in the field. I replaced my wife's income with one of my websites and I didn't pay anything for advertising. I learned SEO techniques from SEO forums and reading the tutorial that I mentioned above. You can also learn from blogs. IMHO it is the safest way going about it.
Hello, yes I said Blonde Jon, you need to learn more about SEO... You rank top ten for a keyword as I can saw, but that keyword has around 5 searched a day, and you are in the 8 position. Also, add more related pages to your site, like why is better that product than another product, think in ideas to add more pages, and more pages, and more pages, also keep your site without target=’_blank’ If you don’t like to write, invest money to pay for writers, and invest money to related backlink like plumbers directories, or something like that… This is an investment for long time, this will take a couple of months, because you write new content, make update on your pages, make linkexchange, buy links, this take time…. but if you want to start to offer your products tomorrow, buys Adwords on Google The Key are: Backlink and content Best, Jakomo
actually, it's not an easy thing to advertise an online store. There are so many challengers and you might be lose one day. However, you must always remember one thing. Content is the king. Whatever you do, if you serve your customers with information, then come your product, you'll be able to increase your sale. Your traffic will increase too because people are searching information. They are not spending thousands dollars to the online shopping. So, give them what they want(information) and they will give back to you what you want.
Thanks, everybody! I will start writing larger descriptions for my products, keep doing what I did before and try new things I learn about here. And wait. 3 months after I launched my website, I received a pagerank of 3 and visitors tripled. I guess I have to be patient. I know some people who gave up on their business after a few months.
Have not seen these suggested, 1) Start your own affiliate program. This gets other people generating clicks for you. In return, you'd need to give them a cut of the profit (between 2 - 10%) 2) Start some blogs about home improvement, kitchen remodeling with ads on the side to your store. There are blogs you can set up that update with RSS feeds automatically (PM me for more info if you're interested)
