Hi, I'm wondering if it's a good think to advertise your website in your SIG on forums ?? How much traffic do you think I can get with this is I post like 5 to 10 posts a day on a forums ?? The forums I'm think about are GameSpot (I think I have something like 1000 posts on this one), NotebookReviews (I have around 500 posts on this one) and maybe on OverClock(dot)net (I don't post much on this website right now, but it's a very big forums so I could try to post 5-10 times a day). All 3 forums are related to my website (PC Video Gaming). What do you think about it ?? THX Guys
Hey you can get quite a lot of traffic given that you actually provide value to the forum. But forum signature is more of a link-building strategy in my opinion. Don't expect to get massive direct traffic from it. You should never assign yourself some number of posts to make, just talk about what's important to you.
Make sure your sig sparks some interest/curiosity for a higher click through. Nobody will click if it just says "PC Video Games"
Thank You, I'm gonna check at the rules for SIG first, because I don't want to lose my reputation with that
Yes. Don't expect too much traffic from forum sig's(unless the forum is entertainment, adult related). Use it for link building, it'll make search engine's find your site easily and crawl often.
Actually forums are made for thoughtful discussions rather than clear spam. I would suggest you to be active only on relevant forums.
I think the key is as mentioned above, provide useful posts and helpful responses, and if it's allowed, have your website in your sig. I don't think that's spam, and even if it doesn't generate masses of traffic, if you're active in a forum anyway, it's not going to do any harm. I did get some good traffic to a forum I used to run by posting my website in my sig in forums with a similar interest.
As long as you don't spam then any promotion you do for your site has to do some good. Just give credible/thoughtful/helpful posts for most interest, and make sure your signature stands out.
If you post intelligently and little long so that people want to read, then they will check out your signature.. just posting like "thanks for info" or one two words posts doesn't help. I think it works that way. digitalduke
I use my signatures for both SEO and traffic. The traffic is better on some forums than others but my SEO value is a lot better because many people in my staff and freelance writers will link in their sigs the websites so I have a lot of people out there with the links in their signatures who are active and respected in different community forums. I have probably seen more SEO value than traffic as I probably only get maybe 20 uni ques per month from DP and I have a lot of posts. I have actually upped the forums I go to though since I have started to see a boost in traffic as well from certain forums.
Me, personally? Hell no. Of course not. It is one of the worst ways. Kids, clueless noobs, and, complete morons think different, which is why they have dead sites. It depends on the quality of your posts, how your signatures looks, and whatnot. But the traffic is very very, VERY minimum, and many are just curiosity seekers, who quickly back out again. (Bounce rate.) But, then again, maybe you are content with that for the time being. I don't know. Well, then, after all of that, shouldn't you already know if it is worth it to you, or not?
