These ideas aren't my own. I just recently came across them.

1 - On back of business cards, offer a free gift. Ex: Congratulations, you’ve just been given a $250 gift (or however much), then proceed to tell them what they received and direct them to a website.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
2 - Reply to spam email you receive. . .

Thank you for your offer. I will look it over. Here's a free advertising
gift for you. (or whaterver your offer is)
    (your link)

    All the best,
    (your name)

I just started doing this. I can't stand getting spammed any more than anyone else, but this has been working out so well for me, (several sign ups a day from just spam mail) that now I check to see how much junk mail I have accumalated each day with excitement, rather than with trepidation.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------
3 - Go to FREE classifieds sites, place your ad, and also look for an email address on the website and send them a message.

    Subject:
Body: Here is a free advertising gift for you. (or whatever your offer is)
    Link:
This is not spam. You recently posted an ad on free classifieds. This is the only mail you will receive.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
4 - Set up a vacation message in your email account.
Your vacation message could be something like this:

I'm away right now. I will look at your offer when I return.

Here's a great (______________), which I can fully recommend. Everyone needs business exposure and this is an excellent service. (Tweak to fit your product or service. )

Check it out right away: (link)

    Best wishes,

    (your name)

You don't even need to set this message up as a vacation message. You could use this as well for spammers. It will get your message to them. I'm against spamming, but as it turns out, I'm not against spamming spammers.
    ;)

Good luck all with your businesses. I hope you are having as much fun as I am.

I recently tried offline advertising in the classified section of the National Enquirer, I received a very good response!

Interesting, but I find it hard to believe that sending a solicitation to the spam email gets any response. What kind of products are you selling - lists of names?

Actually, I wasn't surprised. Pleased, happy, thrilled, but not surprised. :>)
The folks sending me emails about their businesses are doing this because they don't have much of a customer base yet and not enough on-line experience to be worried about their ISP provider coming down on them for spamming. Also, if their businesses were doing well, they wouldn't find it necessary to spam. These folks are not only sending you their offers, but they are open to other offers. Alot of these folks probably still have the mind- set of 'get rich quick', looking for the next big thing. Whereas, anyone doing this for awhile knows that having your own business, on-line or off takes alot of work.

I'm not expecting to make a bundle from the spammers, but it is a little extra from a source that hadn't occurred to me.

I work the viral marketing end mostly. I give away free eBooks or software programs that work really well and have alot of really good information so that by the time the person finishes using the program or reading the eBook, their ready to sign-up and work the system as well. I use and try everything before promoting. I won't promote garbage.
That is why my spammers are my personal email list. They're comin' to me. I don't have to find them.

I always delete those kinds of emails. I don't even bother reading them.
