Hi All, Our company is looking to drive more sales through our website and increase our position on SERP's by advertising on relevant websites and paying these sites a commision of sales that they generate. Is signing up as a merchant on an affiliate program the answer (if so any suggestions) or would this be better done in house? We'd mainly be targetting accounting websites and the like.
Depends on the volume you are looking to do, your budget, and how much control you would like... If you want high volume / have a huge budget, go with a big player like CJ.com, and you'll have hundreds of affiliates shortly I am sure.. If you don't want the high volume / have a small budget, do it in house. You'll miss out on a lot of the larger affiliates (IMHO there is a trust problem with in house affiliate programs, I don't use them because I've not been paid before..), but lots of smaller ones will join your ranks...and if you gain some sort of a track record with the little guys you might get larger ones eventually.
