How does it work? Do Advertisers have to outbid everyone else?
I am seeing one of my ad units almost constantly used up by one big ad.
It's somewhat targeted but not that much.
Are they actually paying more then other ads would in the same spot?

Um. I could really use an answer.
Did they outbid everyone else to get this spot permanently on my site or what?
Can I expect to make more money or should I just block them (I expect a lower CTR since it stands out more and its not 100% on topic, although related)

Dude, it only works for websites with huge traffic if yours is one, go with it, if not you better rely on clicks more then IMPS ...

I am not sure I understand what you are saying. I don't have CPM selected or anything. This ad shows on my site and I was wondering why only this advertiser takes up so much real estate.
Either you didn't understand my post or I didn't understand your answer.
My traffic has nothing to do with this discussion, since I didn't pick this advertiser. I am wondering if I should block it or not.
There must be a reason Adsense chose to put this guy everywhere on my site and I was wondering if I can expect a higher payout or if I should block it in favor of a higher CTR.

Would be nice if you could give a definition of huge. I am very happy with my traffic, but its not wikipedia either.

Don't block anything it may be not targeted, it may be the only ad related to your niche >_>, just kidding, dude you must do an A/B test, or use ad logger to see if people likes that ad and clicks it more then the others then decide ...

Hm thanks. I am using adlogger, but the last few days my traffic has been so high, that adlogger spits out so much data to digest.
I guess I need to evaluate the channel payout and compare the CTR to historical data to get an idea.
Too bad, I thought there was a general answer like:
Yeah, man they are outbidding everyone, you are gonna get rich
    or
WTF, get rid of that BS as fast as you can
    Thanks for the answer.
I guess I will have to sit down on my ass and figure it out
Come to think of it, forget Adlogger. They are only using one ad unit and that one is tracked on Adsense Directly. I guess all I need it look through some history.
I am actually thinking about disabling adlogger. It never did much for me.

an advertiser can click on "Advertise on this site" on your site or they pick it out of the list of sites in adwords.
min. bid is $.25 cpm (minus googles cut).they have to out bid other cpm ads and ppc ads.not sure how it out bids ppc ads,but it may be your ecpm.
you can see how much cpm they are in advance reports.
look at you reports to see if it is worth it.
you can turn off "Advertise on this site",but i dont think you can turn off site ads.
