Notice that I said nice car. Its website for cars that race at tracks. Get that sticker on a few cars, the cars to go the tracks, and there are hundreds of people that are going to see it, and they are in the same niche. It works, trust me.
I was reitterating your statement - agreeing with you that a nice car can be good advertisement. As for the web site I listed, it is not for race cars. I see these cars driving around town all the time, fully-stickered up with "Desani" water ads, and other corporate ads. These people are getting paid to drive a certain amount of miles, in certain areas of town at least six days a week. You can have your own car stickered, or they will give you one of their company cars to drive, but you still get paid nonetheless. I think card ads are a great idea, though I wouldn't take my S2000 to get ads put all over it.
oh i know what youre talking about now, we have those here in Iowa too. it obviously will work the best if its shown to the people who have the same interest, but non the less its good advertising. If you think about how many people see your car each day, it a huge amount.
I don't think i would to desperate for this kind of business, i knew someone who got into this affiliate scam, it was like an affiliate program except he had to pay 500 and he had to actually distribute the product, the product was a scam it was gas pills that was supposed to save you gas but it didn't work, any way he advertised his business on the back window of his jeep.
its not being desperate. why would you not want to reach your potential customers/users in any way possible. Thats the best way to publicly advertise your site for CHEAP and not bother the people who dont want to see it.
the stickers im refering to were 1.5 inches tall and about 8 inches long, so they fit really well on the side windows of cars, down in one of the corners or the triangle windows, or right by the brake light in the back window was a really good place to put them. Actually there are two s2000's in town who have them
I've seen a Toyota Rav 4 driving around Sydney advertising a site for Russian buy-a-brides eek... the car had the site's URL everywhere and it certainly turned heads. I think the best way to advertise is to drive into a city and get yourself stuck in peak hour traffic. I might try it one day...
I hesitate to advertise the site I am focused on (salarymap.com) on my car since I park it at work for two reasons. First, I am not sure how people would look at a employment focused web site. Secondly, there are two camps at work, one that thinks everyone involved with the web should also be working on outside projects and others that think you should not (guess which group is up to date, cost effective, and innovative and which one is not ).
If anyone is going to do something like this (promote another person's business; not your own), make sure it's a REPUTABLE COMPANY; not some FAD PRODUCT or "As Seen on TV" crap. I've seen Mountain Dew / Pepsi ad cars, Dasani Water ad cars, etc. If I were going to enter this realm of "paid to advertise", it would not be for someone trying to hock gas pills.
Call Vinyl Images. They are great at what they do and their prices are very reasonable. *Disclosure - Vinyl Images is one of my sponsors
It's an interesting marketing strategy. If you have a good domain name which is small and easy to remember, this might really do wonders for your business and may get you some popularity.
I haven't usually paid much attention to domain names on cars, but I saw one the other day that was also a logo. This guy had a car with some super cool accents like tribal flames, etc on his car and then on his bumper there was a sticker for Decal Designers. I Google'd that and found http://decaldesigners.com and they've got some great tools where you see the size and color change right on the screen.
I have finally decided to put one of my sites on my car (GasSave.org) and will use white letters. I have been observing many other cars with them and have concluded that plain white is easiest to read.
