Can you advertise with AdWords on your competitors company names? So when people search for their company yours will pop up? Is this allowed?

I know adwords has a list of terms, phrases that they do not allow you to use if they are flagged as business or trademark words.

When you create your ad, Google will tell you whether you can or not, because some of the companies allow that, some not.

In the United States, yes you CAN advertise on competitor's names, but you may not be able to actually use their name in your ad. But let's say that you were Target, you would be allowed to advertise your store on the term Wal-Mart.
