Advantages and Disadvantages of using blogspot?

What are the advantages and disadvantages of using blogspot with adsense?

I would like to know more on the field and would appreciate any input.

 

Advantage is that you don't need to pay for hosting and you don't need to worry about your bandwidth or used space or installing scripts or anything else.

Disadvantage is that you can't modify your blog 100% but for most users it is not important because blogspot has everything you need and what it doesn't have you can find javascripts and easily implement it into your blog.

 

blogger hackers are trying to implement new features to blogspot..Though its difficult in blogspot its not impossible...
and blogspot is quite simple..

No need to upgrade by yourself as well.

 

I like it very much, though it doesn't let you to edit some advanced webmaster features like robots.txt, etc...

 

The only disadvantage I see with blogspot is that

Advantages:
Dont have to worry about upgrades, backups, security, sitemaps, bandwith, etc..

Disadvantages:
You don't have full control, can't always modify/customize the way you want, sometimes slow, might not look as "pro" because it doesn't have your domain name (but you can use your own domain name if you want).

 

The second site in my sig is a blogspot blog... I have added my own domain, done with a mask at my host CP. But you can add a custom domain for real through your blogspot dashboard and google have a how to..

But at the end of the day.. If you have a domain name and can pay for hosting ( most around $5 per month ) that is really the way to go.. Be the master of your own ship. A nice wordpress blog can be upped to a host with one click.

 

The best option has to be a self hosted Wordpress blog. Having full control is absolutely vital to me, and should be to you.

 

Advantage of having a blogspot is that it is free..

Disadvantage is that it takes a "long" time to get indexed by the G bots, traffic takes a while as well, you can't modify certain things, and it is not your domain..

With that being said, I will get my own domain later on this month.. Hope this helps..

 

Advantage of having a blogspot is that you can take it as your ground for experience and it's hosted free.

Disadvantage, google has all the rights to delete it. And they can do this anytime, most especially when you violated something that's indicated in the TOC.

 

BlogSpot is very helpful for newbies, because they can start a business and promote it using blogspot.
Disadvantages is that they allow you subdomains.

 

I got a PR3 blog site in blogspot before but blogspot closed it because they said that my site is spammer. I will not use blogspot again

So if you learn and get the feel for blogger at a free blog at google... then after a while get your own custom domain and add a nice template..

 

You are free to use, not to worry about paying hosting, bandwidth is good, a lot of free themes, ... you can use a custom domain name, convenient for SEO.

But you can not fix it 100%.

Disadvantages- you can manipulate it more than you know, but it has its own code structure. There are books like "Publishing a Blog with Blogger." Also I know I should have more people looking at mine, and more have, yet there seem to be issues with following me. Also I don't like how you can't search very well within blogger for blogs. I talked to a host that I was thinking of using to build my own site and they pointed out that because the service is free, it is hard to combine it with your own domain with a different server as you don't have access to the files or what is there. They suggested word press, however, I wondered if they had a relationship. I would read some books on publishing in blogger and see if there are books on publishing in word press as well to see the difference. I also thing there are other blogger services out there too.

disadvatges: not look profesional for your business, excerpt when you use your domain self

 

I love blogger with Adsense ads. Everything you earn is profit, no hosting costs. Make sure you have a clean template with optimized SEO titles. You can earn quite a lot with a blogger blog and a decent Adsense template!

 

Pros:
It's easy to setup and use.
You can update your blog via email.
You don't have to pay for the hosting

Cons:
You don't have to pay - which means they control your blog.
It looks like a blog rather then a content site.
You can't add plugins
