I am contemplating about purchasing traffic through pop-unders. Although I have learned few basic advantages and diadvantages I would like to see what others who have had experience with this have to say.

    Advantage:

Massive exposure in short period of time (can lead to your goals)

    Disadvantage:

Usage of high bandwidth in short time.

    Please add your thoughts....

Negative: Paying money for a shot in the dark.

I would estimate that there is a 0.01% conversion rate (if you're lucky) when trying to sell something to a un-targetted audience.

Would you EVER buy something that you weren't initially interested in?

    Probably very negative.

Low conversion (already mentioned) + People with IE browser might think it's just more adware/spyware/malware BS getting launched yet again.

Purchasing a big-traffic package is good. However, visitors are demanding. And they have every right to be.Today’s web surfers have more options and less time than ever before. If your website doesn’t offer what they want or need, if you don’t interact with them in a manner that meets or exceeds their expectations, and you aren’t quick about it, they will just hit Alt+F4.

Apart from the bandwidth consumption, the conversion rate from the purchased traffic is nothing or very minimal and most of the purchased traffic you get on your site is untargeted.

I have bought some targetted uk traffic and my advice to you is stay clear unless you only want to get your traffic up. The people it brings to your site don't do anything, 30000 uk targetted traffic, not one signup.

    Total waste of money/time.

Also have in mind that most of those companies are sending you fake traffic (they use anonymous proxies from all around the world...) plus most of them are counting as impressions the blocked (popup blockers)

Yes stay away. I have used a few differnet ones in the past and it didnt do anything for me. I didnt get one sale or sign-up. I dont even think people where browing my site. I wasted a few hundred dollars on bulk traffic with not one single sale.

    Con:
Easily a WASTE OF MONEY. Untargetted traffic with virtually no income.

    Pro:
Good boost of Alexa rank if you are going to sell your website.

Spend your money on adwords or on buying one way links or banner space on a related site.

I agree with the rest. Buying popups and popunder traffics are the fastest way of pissing people off. Buying links and banners are the best way to go about gaining traffic, it is not going to be fast but at least you will attract people who wants to visit your site.
