I have two similar websites - both promoting freelance development work. I have just completed the second website. As the two sites are similar with similar keywords (but not identical) am I likely to be penalised (i.e. the two sites wont be treated as independent) if both sites are in the same webmaster account? Is creating an entirely separate webmaster account on a different PC likely to anger the mighty google? (I bought the second address as the first one wasn't getting indexed and was concerned it had some previous bad google-karma - it was indexed shortly after buying the second url )
imo I would have seperate webmaster accounts, it also depends on wether they are on the same ip address
you may get penalized only If you have violated Google's rules... By having two webmaster accounts Google will consider those sites to be owned by two different persons...
Thanks for replies. I guess I am asking whether google treats the following two cases differently in terms of ranking website1 and website2 when the two sites have similar content. a) website1 and website2 owned by person 1 b) website1 owned by person1 and website2 owned by person2.
