    Goodmorning,

Happy Thanksgiving to all. I've been adding video content to my self-hosted WordPress blog. I've tried at least a dozen video plug-ins. The one that works best has been Hanaflv. I create .flv files on my computer and upload them. This was working fairly well for me, then I started looking at my RSS feed.
There was no thumb nail for my videos on my RSS feed nor was there any text message, there were just large blank areas.

I found FLV Embed, which sounded like it had the support I needed, it had an option where it would generate a text message for my RSS feed for where videos are not supported. It also created a xml directory of my videos for google. Both features I have been unable to find with other plug-in's. However, FLV Embed gives me a php error when I update posts, I searched for the error and did edit some php code, but was not successful in getting it to play videos. I am on WP 2.8.5, and from what I read, I get the impression that FLV Embed is not well supported in the current version of WP.

So I am back to looking for a plug-in / player for my flash videos. I am really looking for something that will either show a thumbnail or alt text in my RSS feed. (right now it is just huge blank spots where the videos would be). I would also like something that will create the video site map in a xml file. Support for streaming to mobile devices would be a plus. I would love to see some built in support for the Podcast functions.

The only thing I have found that looks like it will work is call Cincopa, they have a WP plug-in, but you have to host with their service. I have the resources to self-host (pay for a vps) and need to do so for other web site functions anyway. Bandwidth is much less expensive than Cincopa, if I host videos myself, even on a top quality VPS.

I don't mind paying for a program, I am just not interested in a solution that locks me into hosting at one company (like the Cincopa setup does). I can't buy something as expensive as the Adobe media server package at $5,000+, but I would buy a real piece of software that has the functions I need.

Thanks very much for your time and suggestions,

    Happy Thanksgiving,
    Jamie
