    I just developed a PHP Advanced Search Mod for PHPLD 2.0. For an example of the script take a look here www.forumregistry.com and click on advanced search. For $5, I will send you the complete documentation to set it up. No database changes needed and very scalable. The script will also work with any template that you have. PM if interested.
