That is true, though I'd still consult a laweyer, especially if you're in one of the less 'liberal' states. If I was going to go down that road I'd make sure I was completely watertight.

I'm interested in this subject also, what if you only run affiliate content, their promo galleries that they offer and so forth??? No original content whatsoever, just affiliates, what legal implications arise then. Also im in Vegas, so I don't know how much more liberal it gets. Thanks...

There are some really good adult resource sites and adult attorney resource sites.

Just make sure if you buy content, it is from a US provider. There are some shady oversea providers.

There are many good sponsors out there, but there are some bad ones as well. Research them, test them, and make sure your paperwork is in order. Recent law changes you have to have copies of models releases and ID in files incase the feds show up.

I'm not planning to buy any content, all I was thinking of doing is posting link to the affiliate galleries. No galleries of my own. And posting user agreement, and 1187 i believe. No personal content or bought content.

good girl, do you have any website with legal content about adult online business.

I previously set up a few TGP sites (Free Pictures). I was only converting about 1 3500. The hosting costs were eating me up from the visitors who just wanted free porn without ever upgrading. I then decided to try a company that offered "hosted galleries" on their web host but My conversion rate was crap because I was not offering anything new. It is possible to make money but I reccomend you find a good adult forum and do a lot of reading and research before jumping in.

All I can say is this: if you have children, stay away from adult, it is an example you do NOT want to set.

Just so I understand this correctly - Site Tutor..you are against Adult sites...? You haven't been real clear here its hard to tell how you really feel about adult sites... hehe - j/k its pretty obvious - and Bravo for saying so.

I have aquaintences who were involved in adult content websites for a while. Ugly ugly business. One friend has been decimated by what he once called 'just a job'. Porn isn't 'just a job' - don't fool yourself.

I'm not here to preach morality thats every persons own journy - but suffice it to say I think you should run from it - and run fast.

From a purely business standpoint I understand that few are lucritive, most end up being bandwidth and traffic heavy - conversion LITE. I'd like to say its because people are shy of being associated with pronography, but its more likely that these sites are synonymous with viruses, dialers etc (as mentioned before)

I'll leave my post at that.

    Great post, AZ.
Yes, I have tried to keep my opinions to myself but strongly believe it is a bad business to be a part of !

It is actually U.S.C. Title 18, Section 2257 - which with the Bush adminstration is under scrutiny and it is possible that some changes might be made to this law. If that happens, the record keeping is going to be ferocious.

If you do need any type of legal advice, contact JD Obenberger - he is one of the best attorneys out there for the adult industry

As far as the content being sold to you, word travels fast, very fast, in that world. The more legitimate adult websites want to protect themselves. I will say this much - they are usually on the cutting edge of technology, trying to protect their content from others.

I only know people who do the adult websites and I attend some of the conferences to learn more, especially about the merchant account side of things and possibly how to help protect clients from chargebacks, etc.

Some silly little person gave me neg rep for my post. hah :)

What a  - no comment, just a neg rep. I thought my post was fairly decent, I even tried to keep from stepping on any toes. I never tried to slam porn users or sellers, so you don't need to defend your practices. What you do is your own business.

I'm so very sorry that I hurt your poor little feelings with my fairly reserved post.
Hard to believe that post caused you emotional distress.

I wouldn't worry about it. I have been through arguments over those issues and they get heated on both sides. it still is good to voice your opinion, state it and move on :)
You'll be surprised how many read it and silently agree ...

I did not even think you did AzAkers. Everyone has their own opinion when it comes to that industry. For example, I'll help them find a merchant account - but that is about it. Way too much time goes into the hosting - I just refer them over to a DC in Tempe that can handle their traffic, DDOS attacks, etc
