I know affiliates who made a lot of money with adult affiliate programs. There is money in every niche, a matter of supply and demand. Some make more, some make less - some make it quicker, some more slowly. You have to be consistent, regardless of the niche you choose. This is the key to success.
Adult used to be very hot uptil few years back, now there are too many clones and also people don't easily fall for the BH methods as they are bombarded with such methods. Its still hot, but you have to be bit creative and find out new ways to promote. Or use WH methods.
Adult is still strong with affiliate sales but product programs like dvd etc.. have falling off over the years due to free smut on the web. Paysites are still good and their are ton of them to promote.
i received my payments as well. there a bunch out there and they are trying to stay ahead of the free tube sites
adult aff programs is still the best selling in the internet industry. It's only a matter of having a targeted niche to be different.
I agree with what others have said. Just like other affiliate programs you need to be targeted and be good at what you do. It's not "easy" money or bigger money compared to other programs, just another way to promote. That being said, I manage people doing tremendously well with our programs. They work hard and they do very well.
I have been marketing adult over 12 years, income is not what it used to be say for example 6-10 years ago but if you concentrate on sub-niches there is still quite alot of $ to be made. Specifically, I have heard that the affiliate programs don't pay because the websites offering affiliates will only pay you after the first two months that a new client signs up on their site. They know very well that most people sign up with porn sites for only one month, download the whole site and then cancel their membership. The adult site gets at least a month's membership out of it but the affiliate site gets nothing. Any thoughts? Amit, what is WH?
I wouldn't promote any program which has such policy. Affiliates are entitled to earn comission from the first month.
i use to earn with blaklabelads but the conversion nowadays are getting very low. i just use hotfile for my porn files to give away.
I sell a lot with a friend's site in the amateur niche http://www.camhotgirls.com/webmasters. He's really ramping up the aff section and the conversions are good but only on my amateur blog. So if you traffic is not amateur targeted you will have to send quite a few hits.
Hi. I just stumbled across this thread and thought I would weigh in. I'm not sure what type of 'Adult' site you are referring to but I think there are two distinct types - porn and adult shopping. Yes! We run our own affiliate program for our adult shop selling lingerie and adult products (but no porn), and have been in business for 10 years. Our affiliate program is over six years old and is going strong. As we run the program ourselves we have built up very strong relationships with out affiliates by dealing with them directly. So we see it as having our affiliates work with us instead of for us. Much better than dealing with a big impersonal company and we find that it works. We value our affiliates so prefer quality over quantity which is why we avoid big affiliate networks. I agree with this. All our affiliates earn 15% commission on sales generated from their links and our best selling affiliate earns a substantial amount every month. I've mentioned this site in some other thread. It sells nice mainly because of great landing page and on-site content. After all they seem to have biggest base of amateur and homemade videos. You need to know... some programs do really well... until they are overpromoted .. and this is probably most important people get such a great rate with this program.

Basically, it's just like promoting other products and services in other industries. You should build sites which are related to this industry, offer some content (in this industry it would probably be sample galleries of pictures or movies) and recommend the sites of the program you work with. You would like to submit your sites to adult directories and try to do the best SEO you can. That's about it for a start.
