i heard that if i run an adult website i should place a " you have to be older than 18 to access this site" as my entry page or i could get into some really serious legal issues... is this true ???
Really, you need to speak with an attorney who specializes in the field of adult/internet entertainment. 2257 law is most important. Generally the "18+" disclaimer is just a 'precauation', and carries no legal weight.
You are advised to place a "You Must Be Over 18" page as this allows people who accidentally stumble across your site a chance to go away without any adult material being downloaded onto their computer.
yeah... to be safe add the disclaimer.. but personally i don't make an entire page for it.. as i like that the first page google hits is constantly updated with fresh content... just add a small bit some where and you'll have a good seo wise page and cover your back with the disclaimer.
If you are worried about legal issues, though, please make yourself familiar with 2257 laws in the USA
You might as well add it! Most people will click through if they landed on your site by choice. It covers your ass so is worth it!
Disclaimer dosnt hold much if any legal weight... More worth while to register your site with www.cybersitter.com and www.netnanny.com. The biggest chance you have of getting in trouble is for posting pictures of underage people/children on your site. As long as you stick to the main affiliates and are not producing your own content there is not too much to worry about! Hope that helped, Cheers
Any disclaimer you place that demonstrates "best effort" should add to your defense. I don't use it on my sites though. I would strongly suggest any site to incorporate. A separation from personal liability is the best defense of all, and having a lawyer on hand to address any issues that will arise. And they will.
