Hi there, I have dabbled before in online business; proxies and the like, and have found them to be quite successful, but now i see adult sites such as tube8 / redtube etc getting huge huge amounts of traffic, and therefore racking in commisons for affilate programs and conextual ads. But what are the implications running such a site? - Are there legal issues? (So long as you make sure theres no undergage/violent videos etc) - Costs ; i would presume adult streaming site burn loads of BW and HD. and so on ... If anyone is currently running such sites, could you please give any ideas/tips etc Thanks
Typically, they are hosting long videos. So you would need a minimum of a dedicated server, and some good bandwidth pricing. From there, if you do not produce content, you can use the videos from sponsors that are in adult. Many provide them now a days. By using sponsor material, it helps cover your licensing, use, 2257 docs issue. If, you are like many, who are just going to take videos from the web, or make your own, and do not have the license to use them, or can provide the 2257 docs to cover yourself. You are at risk of being sued, and/or the FBI coming after you. 1. 2257 means you have proof the people are over 18, and signed model releases. 2. You are licensed to use the material. A lot of adult companies, including my own, are cracking down on illegal use of our material. Including hitting you with a C&D, and DMCA. Killing your processing, host, registrar, and getting you removed from the search engines.
There are alot of old adult companies shutting down and selling their materials with 2257 documentation. Some even opened a website to sell the videos with a 2257 which was a smart move on their part due to Tube sites coming out. You just have to keep your eyes open, search the net and be willing to pay some of their prices. Last thing you want is your site to get shut down. Best of Luck Flashcrawler.
I guess, there are some legal laws for it,which you need to follow. So kindly do a good research first and then go for it..
I find it just as lucrative to be an affiliate and then SEO the hell out of adult themed sites. Leave all the legal aspects to the main site offering the affiliate program.
