Hi, Im wondering if I live in America and host and do all updates to my adult site from either Canada or Europe am I a bit more protected from US intervention/prosecution? Does anyone know this? Thanks in advance, MSW
My guess is that if you're an American citizen and you can be linked to running of the site (or even viewing it if it's "that" border line) they could give you a run for your money. If it's the 18 usc 2557 thing (record keeping) thing you're concerned about I'm guessing that if the site looks completely legal they wouldn't bother...? Remebering that if Canada or the European country you choose has laws about specific stuff regarding adult content then you'd have to be mindful of those! Not a lawyer but just giving my opinion.
I would say your not going to gain any legal benefit. That is not to say though that by hosting it out of the country and with a foreign address for everything that the US govt. may look at the site as non-american... until they look into it. The moral of the story is, if your a US citizen, don't break US laws..
