Adult Payment Processor

I am setting up a site for a client and I need to use a payment processor that will work with an adult site. I have never made an adult site before so I have no idea which companies work with this...

I am a big fan of paypal and would love to find something similar, but what is the best out there and who can make some recomendations?

The only good one I've heard of is CCBill. But you'd probably have a much easier time looking at an Adult Webmaster Forum.

Yes CCBill is one of the processors that I've heard good things about as well. 14% is as bad as tax though... highly unreasonable.

I'm sure you can find better alternatives if you are in the US.

Take a look at instabill & icoopay, allthough icoopay is phone billing if I remember correctly.

You can use an offshore merchant account provider. I think you can find one cheaper than 14%, but they are still going to run probably 8%+.

Have you looked into netteller, I'm not sure if they accept payments for adult sites but they accept them for gambling sites.

14% is pretty much standard, you need your own merchant account to get good rates, otherwise you are stuck with 14 and up. I use ccbill myself and they are pretty good.

You may check with netbilling & standardpay.com, they also accept such sites, however I am not sure about their rate.

Verotel might be able to help you along with the electronic payment gateway 2000charge.com if your volume is high enough.

CCBill will only do membership type websites

If you go direct, a regular adult merchant account is going to cost you $5k upfront wherever you go. That's the Visa/MasterCard registration fee for adult sites. In addition, adult processors, good ones that is are very hard to find. They are typically international banks and often go under. I've seen people lose out on high six figures because they selected the wrong processor. Go with CCBill, it's worth the $$$ not to have to worry about the legitimacy of who you go with.

Charge.com is a reseller for Card Service International which only caters to US businesses.

    What country are you in?

Most likely you will need to use either a local bank, a 3rd party processor, or an offshore merchant account provider.
